“Correct. This is a depth move, IMO. Exclusively right tackle last season, exclusively left tackle the season prior. A mix of both early on in his career.”

“Swing tackle/FG unit, experience on both LT/RT in a pinch. “

“Already the designated week one LT starter if Ickey’s out? I’d be reluctant to read minds, but I’d also be reluctant to answer yes to that question.”

John Ellis looking like Stan Switek from Miami Vice.

FWIW, the Panthers have done a solid job at developing OL the two years Canales has been here.  We saw it last year with Yosh filling in and looking decent.  BC, Mayes, and Ikem have all also improved in the two years Canales has been here.

Did we ever actually determine his cost? Can’t imagine that $18.5 number was right for his awful performance.

One link I saw from Facebook said 3 million in value with up to 6 million in incentives.

#Panthers one year, $2M Stone Forsythe, $1.05M gtd, $500K signing bonus, salary $1.215M ($550K salary gtd), $15K per game active roster bonus, $1.25M playtime, team rankings incentive. Max APY: $3.25M

That’s solid even for how bad he is. Hopefully he never sees the field

I honestly have no idea why they signed this guy.

This is where, if you look, you might find a connection with an OL coach on staff. Someone that had him before and thinks they can get him turned around, fixed, something like that.

I’m not looking.

    • I tend to think that you're right, but fans can hope.  Metchie hasn't actually translated so far to the NFL for reasons we can point to, and others we probably cannot. This will probably be his best opportunity to stick and raise his value, obviously because of past chemistry with Young, but I don't think that fans can count on it based upon what he's done so far in the league. It would seem that he would've been given that opportunity in Houston, but they not only drafted one, but two receivers. Tells you how they valued him. Philly didn't blink when they traded him to the Jets who refused to tender him, so no one has really valued what he brings--not really. Moreover, Bryce is in the big boy leagues, now. He doesn't have time for sentimentality when it comes to security blankets. T-Mac and Coker are established.  That being said, chemistry can cause explosions under the proper circumstances, but I wouldn't count on Metchie being anything more than a sub-explosion at best.
    • Beyond the locks, that's so gross, there is no reason Tremayne should be our 3rd (as I'm over XL and he shouldn't be higher than #4 on our depth chart this year), just no. It's why I was really hoping we'd just get rid of XL for whatever the best draft pick we can get for him is.  Then sign a true quick twitch guy to be our slot WR, and even then, still hope that Horn Jr might take that spot from them in camp anyways and turn that FA signing into our #4, with Moore as a special teamer who gets a jersey and then Tremayne as that last project.
