It is time to Consider the Likelihood of WR at #19

The only WR that makes sense in the first is KC Concepcion. He fills multiple roles in the offense and is a PR specialist.

I mean there are other guys who are technically regarded as better but yeah, I get the appeal.

josh Norris pointed out he’s two inches taller and 15 lbs heavier than Jaylen waddle was coming out. He plays inside out, gives us juice, but is still different enough of a profile that Legette and Horn don’t become obsolete.

I think he’s a good option. Better than a safety or a guard or whatever especially.

The funny thing is we'll draft KC or whichever WR at 19 and by the fall when our OL is predictably not living up to billing as the highest paid unit in the league for the second consecutive year the same folks in here clamoring for yet another first round pick to not go to the defense will be whailing about getting more help on the OL. You just cannot reason with this insanity. I've never seen anything like this mentality that the QB is never expected to elevate the moving parts around him and instead must be carried by top end talent at all times. Honestly pathetic.

I'm really not buying it.  And don't think it is worth getting worked up about something so unknown.

If I'm wrong, I'll gladly admit it.  But I really think this has been a big smokescreen.  Panthers aren't taking a WR in R1.

That whole debacle with X pre draft was a teaching moment. They kept things close to the vest last year.

What specific LT at 19 are all of the OT Stan’s wanting? Be specific. All have issues and are not guaranteed to improve the OL.. The chances of one of these LT’s who are projected at 19 (Proctor, Lomu) being a bust is much higher than a guy like Lemon/Concepcion imo. Do you really want to draft a kid who has weight struggles along with lateral movement issues? And the other who was a shitty run blocker vs Big 12 competition? Morgan and Co. want to see how Rasheed Walker plays.. They also want to see how Icky’s rehab goes.. There’s a lot of  “wait and see” at OT. We don’t have the luxury for our 1st round pick being a backup. We lack top end talent. Morgan and the others have made it known they want to win now. For that reason, I’m almost positive we punt on OT in the first this year and worry about it next year in the first round if need be.

Thieneman would be ideal. He’s a natural “center field” safety with great coverage skills. For the posters who want trade up for Downs…Do you realize he struggles in coverage? He’s more of a box safety. We already have two of those players.. I wouldn’t mind trading in front of the Vikings for the Thieneman though.. Next need would be DT, but I don’t see the value there at 19.. Same with edge. WR at #19 is very realistic. Who would improve this team more than Lemon/Concepcion? I like Tyson, but his injuries scare me. You could argue a slot CB, but the value isn’t great there either. People tend to forget the Seattle Seahawks game.. Yes BY sucked, but no one was getting open.. We could use a quick savvy route runner to beat man coverage. TMAC and Coker are great, but consistently creating separation vs Man Coverage is not their strength.

Yeah, if we go offense in round one, it feels like it has to either be that Oregon TE or OL. Our TEs are probably the worst TE unit in the league and our OL is rapidly aging and highly paid. Three straight 1st round WRs is insane given all the other holes on this roster. Detroit got mocked for that for years and that was even with one of those WRs being Megatron. Three straight 1st round WRs plus the draft capital given up to trade up for Bryce would mean we have just an insane amount of draft capital tied up in a QB and WRs.

I'm not a stan, but I really like Caleb Lomu. The ONLY knock on him is he needs to improve core strength. An NFL weight room and regimen will improve that in no time. He has the best feet, hands, balance, and recovery of any tackle in the class, imo.

It’s easier said than done. Especially vs bigger, stronger men. I’m sure Utah’s weight training program was no joke.. Some guys just never get to that strength  level no matter how hard they hit the weights. If we draft him though, I hope he does develop his strength. I’d just rather wait till next year to draft an OT. With our tough schedule, it might be a possibility to get a blue chip OT talent. Not a late first.

Nothing guarantees any of these WR will not be a bust just the same. When in doubt go lineman.

So you’re ok having a rookie LT ride the bench? I’d rather just wait and see how Walker plays and how Icky progresses. Icky would most likely sign a 1 year “prove it” deal in 2027. Drafting a safety or WR in the late first is not the worst decision in this particular draft.
