Day 2 Draft Talk

You know we all love our HOFer Luke Kuechly. Ever since he endorsed Rodriguez I've been 1000000% on board with selecting him.

I did several simulators (which mean absolutely nothing) and everyone of them Rodriguez was gone by 45.

If we could somehow use our extra 5th and move up a couple of spots to get him. I'd be happy.

Gotta get in front of the Bucs

I get real Les Snead "fug them picks" style on Day 2 and Day 3. I know depth and blah blah, but the likelihood a 5th rounder makes any impact is slim.

Go get JRod, go get your safety, go get your center.

If we come out of the weekend with an OT, JRod, Safety, and Center and a slew of UDFA to fill the roster, I'm not complaining over losing pick 159 who had decent tape at Kennesaw State and a 6th round CB who is fast but can't cover to save his life.

I dont know if the panthers see fs as big of a need as some do. Moehrig has 1 spot locked down.

We resigned nick " the beast " Scott. I want to see more of Ransom. I think there was some chatter of trying csw at safety too.

Imo the panthers would be better served getting a cb or 2 since horn is injury prone and jackson is probably gone after this year

There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.

While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.

Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.

Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.

ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.

EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.

FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.

CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.

Anthony Hill Jr./Jacob Rodriguez/CJ Allen/jake Golday

Kayden Mcdonald/Christen Miller/Lee Hunter

Emanuel McNeill Warren

Eli Stowers

Sam Heckt

Denzel Boston/Germie Bernard

TJ Parker/Cashius Howell

Any of the CBS

We are in good shape to get another starting caliber player

J rod or a ilb

mcdonald is good as gone but that would be a very nice addition.

stukes or haulcy

Deion Burks is being slept on but don’t sleep

Denzel Boston(should be gone), Ted hurst, Bernard are all solid options too

not familiar with OG and C rankings but  mid rounder on one isn’t a bad move either

    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
    • I mean, our TE room does suck but we had other pressing needs and no surefire upgrades in the draft. I was surprised at how many TEs went in the first three rounds. I think most everyone was. You want a guy who projects at least as a guy who has the potential ceiling to be a starter in those rounds and I didn't see 11 of those in this draft. Off the top of my head, I think that's how many TEs went in the first three rounds. It was in that range. That's roughly 10% of the overall picks. Definitely did NOT see that coming with this TE class.
