Beason traded?

Sam Mills Fan

They desperately needed a Lb, they should be willing to give up something more than a low pick. This is Gman helping to save his former team. He could've trade Beason to anywhere and he had to chose NYG.

With all due respect, Beason is worth nothing now to any NFL team. What did you expect to get really?

Just so people are clear I am all for the trade I just wanted a severly 1 sided trade where we own the Giants.

Beason looked like a turtle the last time he took the field and he looked like the shell of the shell of his former self.

you are right.

so what we are looking at, even if it was a late round pick is...

1) he was going to be a free agent next year

2) he was no longer going to be a cap casualty

3) he hasn't really played for a couple years

4) he lost his Mike starting job to kuechly and then

5) he lost his Will job to Blackburn

6) didn't even play last week

7) the last time he was on the field for any amount of time he was a liability (not entirely his fault b/c he shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with)

so pretty much, we weren't getting much from him now. we haven't gotten really anything from him for a couple years. we likely weren't going to be getting a whole lot from him going forward this season. we weren't going to be getting anything from him after this year.

not sure what the problem would be.

he's not who he was two years ago. we aren't trading that guy away. we're trading away the guy who has been on the sidelines for the better part of the last two years and is still on the bench.

BUT ALL MY FEELINGS AND BASELESS INTUITION

That doesn't mean the 6.2 million cap hit disappears when we trade him. A lot of that is from the signing bonus and other bonuses that have already been paid to him. We take the cap hit for that whether he's here or traded. The only thing we are saving is the remainder of his base salary (13/16 of 1 million).

It also clears some of his "games played" bonus for this year. So it likely clears a little north of 2 million

But didn't we just push his cap figures to future years? Are we going to be paying for Beason for the next 2 years?

I hope to God that the switch back to MLB with the Giants really helps Beason and he turns out to have a huge year.

Panther fans need to know what it feels like to get shafted in a trade...

You must have missed that one part where we got AE for what would have been the 33rd overall pick.

That shaft is still up Hurneys ass btw.

A little bit.

You're a bit over dramatic. If this was Beason 4 years ago I'd say this is crazy. Today with Luke and his injury he has become replaceable

jon beason has become over the past couple years very expendable.

he's no longer "the beast". now he's just jon beason...former pro-bowler and former starting MLB for the panthers who spent the last two years on IR and has become a backup WLB.

    • we probably aren't interested (I would be).  But with the massive improvements on our DL via FA and the draft, the DBs will have an easier job this year
    • Why is it so hard for some people to understand its not about similar styles and one team is better at it than the other. Its about 1 team, us, that isnt even playing their own style and look demoralized from the moment the puck drops and then playing like dogshit. That is all on Rod.
    • Respectfully man if your entire argument is based off of a simple pff score lookup then your argument is severely flawed. There is a reason Mike Jackson signed a two year 10 million dollar deal and Jaycee is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Secondly, I don’t get the comparison to our huge need at pass rush last year. What does our massive and historic lack of talent at rushing the passer have to do with a weakness on this years roster?
