I give the bucs only about a 50% chance of scoring on offense.

Combine the factors:

1. Bucs look like a medic ward

2. Our players are looking for revenge for last year, especially on defense

3. Rookie Quarterback for Tampa

4. Muscle Hamster out

5. Greg Schiano is the Janoris Jenkins of likable coaches

That's not to say we will score a bunch on this defense, though.

Prediction:

Panthers 20

Bucs 3

^ There are other ways to "answer" an elite receiver without having to double cover him.

- Mask defenses (feign blitzes or zones)

- Get a pass rush (Johnson et al.)

- Control the ball (Panthers are 3rd in the league in TOP/g at 33min, though TB is 10th at 31)

Vincent Jackson will get his, but that is about it, I think TB scores 7, maybe 10 points in the game, nothing more.  Run game will get dominated by our front 7, and the only mismatch they have is V-Jax.  On the other side, TB misuses Revis by dropping him into zone so much, we'll find soft spots and pound the rock with the 3 headed monster of Tolbert, Williams, and Newton.  They'll slow our offense, but not enough.  Panthers win 24-7

    • At the moment? Absolutely not. Maybe if they drop the next three in a row and go into the deadline at 3-6 I can see an argument to be made to move Rico as he's on a 1yr deal. I'd rather keep Chuba's contract though and roll with ETN + JB next season. The team will have plenty of time to see how JB is looking going into the offseason a year-plus after his surgery to know whether or not they need to plan for another direction.
    • I forgot to mention my thoughts on the rushing grade! 😮 He ran his ass off both weeks. I can't remember the stat offhand but didn't he have something crazy like 120+ yards after contact vs. Dallas? Against Miami he had lanes as wide as the entirety of I-95 to run through which is why his rushing grade wasn't as high as this week's. He's ran like a man possessed and going to earn himself some money in the offseason.
    • I'm not sure how much I'm changing mid year, especially when we are seeing some success.    Most Pass Rushers are physically gifted. Scheme and personnel help, but you gotta have the Jimmys and Joes, especially at that position.    We will likely lose games when the other team can throw for 400 yards, and has multiple high level receivers, but I think at this point in the development of our franchise, we have to be ok with that. You can't address every single issue at once. Really looks like we have plugged some holes on offense, and definitely in run defense. In the next draft, if we hit on a CB, an ILB and a Pass rusher, we will be pretty dangerous.
