Star and Richardson....Two young bulls both worthy of DROY...who is better?

We got the 14 and the Jets got the pick before us. Richardson has turned out to be quite a pick and is just as dominant as Star. I remember that the thought was that if the Jets had picked Star that the Panthers weren't that high on Richardson and may have passed him over.I wonder if that did play out that way and we passed on him cause Star was gone, would we be ripping our GM a new butt hole? Say what you want about Rex, but he knows his defense and got a real player at 13. Star faded a bit towards the end of the season and that kicked him out of final consideration but had one hell of a rookie season.Richardson kicked ass and took names all 16 games and never faded. We got a great DT to anchor our line for many years to come....just glad that we didn't have to choose between Richardson and someone else at 14. Either of these two guys would have elevated the defense to the levels we saw last season.

I wasn't that high on Richardson for us, but he's excelled in Rex's 34. I'm trilled with Star and Short, don't think we could have drafted a better tandem.

As for who's better? Right now I'd go with Suh overall. There are some others but I would have to do some homework.

I feel we have an interior DL to envy for years to come.

Geno Atkins, Gerald McCoy, Vince Wilfork, Henry Melton, Haloti Ngata, Dontari Poe, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, Jason Hatcher, and Ndomukong Suh are probably all better right now.

Within the next year, expect Star to jump into the top 8 or so, top 5 within two years. Atkins, Suh, McCoy, Melton, Dareus, Star, and Richardson are likely the perennials for the next like... 8 years or so. I expect Atkins, Suh, McCoy, Star, and Richardson to be the top 5 in a few years time.

GMan said he talked to another team after the draft that picked in the top 5 and Star was #2 overall on their draft board and they took their #1. GMan said he felt relief when the Raiders took Hayden because knowing Rex Ryan he just "had a feeling" they were going to take Richardson. When this happened the party was on and it continues. Make no mistake, Star was, is, and always will be, our guy.

Huddle GMs did all swear that Sheldon Richardson would be a total bust. Even calling Smitty an idiot when he was asked who he hoped the Panthers would draft and he said Sheldon Richardson.

Shockingly wrong!

I think Star is the best DT in the NFC South over Greald McCoy or the 2nd yr Saints guy who i cant name atm.

KK is top 4!

A long way from the Nick Haydens of the world at DT.

Like I mean we can spend so much time over analyzing to come up with ways that we think star is better than richardson or we can just save time with the understanding that we got a great player and who gives a poo whether or not a similarly productive player is better or not and carry on with our day like we really should

    • And those targets are mostly going to TMac, who will be a part of the FUTURE of the team. Did it remove the most reliable WR and Bryce's safety blanket? Absolutely. But it's also allowing him to build better chemistry with TMac, Stephens, Horn, Evans, etc. I am pumped to see Coker back and hopefully they can reignite that connection.
    • It's the same thing that made Bryce the #1 overall pick. I've never seen such mass delusion about a football player before. Everyone convinced themselves that the fact that Bryce was below to severely below average in practically every physical attribute for an NFL QB just wouldn't matter because he has everything else you need and that'll more than make up for it. When has such an argument ever been made for an NFL prospect before? We watch prospects plummet every year because they run a couple tenths slower in the 40 time than expected. Smitty had everything you want in a receiver except he was 5'9" so he goes in the 3rd round. That's the way these things generally go. If you check a lot of boxes but leave some key ones unchecked you're not an elite prospect. With Bryce though, the physically limitations were always obvious so it gave more time to be able to build that into the equation and come up with reasons for why he'd be able to overcome it. Now we have all these same shortcomings having shone brightly on the NFL field and we STILL have people trying to convince themselves he'll be able to overcome it while ignoring that our past two wins and his improved play have come while riding the back of RB putting up GOAT RB production over the past two weeks. What changed wasn't Bryce. What changed is that Rico is playing out of his damn mind. Pretty much every NFL roster caliber QB can shine if he can get 200+ yards out of the RB behind him.
    • I'm gonna manifest that poo!
