2011 NFL draft grades, 3 years later

Any draft you find your franchise Quarterback in should be considered a success and an A+ draft. Period.

If a team offered us 1-7 round draft picks for cam I wouldn't trade him for that. I'm very content with that years draft.

Other than Cam, that draft was just god awful, especially when considering hurney traded our second rounder for armanti edwards the year before like a jackass. I'd give it a D too. Sure he nailed it with Cam, but my god... how terrible was that draft?

Weighted totally different too. Its like a 100 in a 9 credit hour class.

We found a franchise QB and a great one too.

One of those internships you need to graduate (9 credits).

I'm looking at it this way...

Sure I only passed one of my six classes, but the class I did pass I got a 100 in.

I find this probably has some truth to it considering it's a horrible comparison. If the degree equates to a Super Bowl then it's obvious what we will never have.

You know what's more amazing than getting a D in that year's draft? The fact that most of you are still surprised when a sports writer has bad things to say about Carolina every other day.

Nah, man. Looking at the bigger picture of a draft (especially considering a backdrop of what G-man has done so far, and perhaps other consistently successful GMs), that draft was abysmal. One successful guy in the draft, regardless of whether he is a franchise QB or not, is not a recipe for sustained success.

 

Cam Newton alone would give us a C in my opinion. The rest of the draft was horrid, but considering we didn't have a 2nd round pick and we landed a franchise QB I wouldn't give us a D considering Atlanta gave up a ton to get Jones and they got a B+.

 

Cam is like lipstick on a pig in that draft (see above). To me, what anyone else's draft looked like is getting caught up in smoke and mirrors.

lol @ B+  for a whole draft just because they got a guy who slightly benefits their offense. Wow the media really does drive that whole WR craze with football fans dont they?

Minus Newton that draft is a pretty clear F, and deserving of all the derision it would get.
