I am all for Doug Free if we plug him in on the right. Remmers needed a lot of help to be "solid" last year. If we go with Free on the right, keep Remmers, then bring in Bell at an affordable rate, you have 1 solid starter and two guys that can play if needed. It gives you the leeway to pick a rookie tackle that may not be ready day 1. You can sign a veteran LT too but I don't think there are many out there you would want.

But could definitely be a stop gap for a year or two while you groom a high draft pick.

This is very true.  I would have no problem with this approach.  One thing is for certain, we better address this issue one way or another.  This next season could be big.  I hate to say it this way, but if we don't get the left tackle position addressed sufficiently, our season could be in jeopardy.

If we do draft a tackle then I wouldn't mind signing someone like Free that could start if the pick isn't ready to start at Tackle. If our pick is ready then we could move free to to one side and have the rookie start on the other while Reammers is our back up.

Dallas is in quite a conundrum this off season. They are in the rare position of having two starting caliber right tackles on the team, but both will be free agents come March 10.

Doug Free was the starter most of the 2014 season with the Cowboys until a foot injury sidelined him. Then, Jermey Parnell stepped in and played just as well as Free, including starting the two playoff games.

It is doubtful that Dallas will sign both players, as both know now that they are starters in the NFL. So one of these guys will be available.

Most agree Free is the better player, but not by much. Parnell is 3 years younger, the Cowboys may go with youth.

The Panthers look like they have a solid player in Mike Remmers, but there is no depth at tackle on the squad. The idea of bringing in another right tackle to compete, or possibly even toying with either at left tackle may be enticing to Dave Gettleman.

I think your definition of solid is completely different than most Panther fans.  Remmers was good a few games, then dipped into the mediocre-average-Byron Bell territory (Seahawks game).  He will suffice for another year or two while we worry about other positions, but he is far from solid there.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
