Veteran WRs getting no interest

Though a couple of years older, Jennings is still out there too. Depends on what Carolina wants to do.

Jennings seems like the best blend of maturity/production/knowing his role, than the other WRs out there.  If the Panthers want a 2-yr mentor for KB, Brown and whomever they draft this year, then maybe Jennings would be the best move.

Nicks, Crabtree and Moore present the most potential to stay longer as our #2, but they all seem like they have a lot more to prove in still being relevant.

If DG is inking one of these guys to 1 or 2 - year deals, is Jennings really any worse for us long-term than the other younger players?

Since 2011, Jennings has 230 rec - 2,861 yds - 23 TDs - and he missed half of the 2012 season.  His 23 TD > Crabtree (18) > Moore (17) > Nicks (14)

Jennings will be 32 when the season starts, but if Carolina grabs someone like Devin Smith, Breshad Perriman, Nelson Agholor or Tre McBride, then Jennings veteran presence would be ideal between Benji and the 2 younger guys.

I read this yesterday and thought that the longer they sit on the market without any offers the price tag will lower itself. Gettleman could be waiting to sign one of these guys towards the end of free agency, something he has done in the past.

I don't really see this trend changing.

RB's are devalued, and the WR position is starting to trend that way as well.  Simpler offenses in the NFL, combined with DB's not being able to lay a hand on you, equals younger and less experienced WR's contributing right away.

There will still be the big boys that get paid, but not every team now has to have the prototype WR.

I don't know if I would go that far.

Look at all the WR's that went in the first round of the draft last year (Watkins, Evans, Beckham Jr, Cooks, Benjamin).

There hasn't been a high first round used pick used on an RB since Trent Richardson in 2012, and we know how that turned out.

I think it's more about college receivers being bigger and stronger. They are coming into the league now and contributing right away. It's easier and cheaper to draft one than to give a vet a contract.. even if the vet is a proven commodity
