We had quite a few injuries on the o-line last year which lead us to have our best formation of the year in the playoffs. That, I'd say, was pure luck with some Gettleman goodness & Matsko coaching sprinkled in. I don't want to go through that again and I doubt the Panthers do either. Which is why, IMO, we have so much more competition this year & that's a good thing. I'm hoping Ohr steps up at LT too. The rest of the line will work itself out. The right side with Turner & Remmers did pretty darn well at the end of the year. And we can sign Norwell for life at LG.

What we have to be sure about is good talent at backup for all 5 positions and even good talent for the backups to the backups. That is how deep we had to go last year. **gets chills from the horror of it all** We were damn lucky Norwell & Remmers are the type of men they are to fit in so well so quickly. So get every hopeful player reps & one on one coaching & stash them on the practice squad (not IR, please football gods) if you have to. We will be better prepared this year, I feel it.

Chandler will likely make the team for financial reasons.  It would cost the team to cut him.  His versatility is also nice.

Just to show a difference in how desperate we were to find a tackle last year I will throw out this article...check out the last paragraph http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/7179/details-on-nate-chandlers-deal

It's funny everyone is pooing on the OL now.  We have very short memories. Last year thebOL was a sucky patchwork group of misfits. IMO Oher  my be less than average this year but he will be better than Bell. That and our depth is much better with a lot of young talent. . OL might not be good but will not be as bad as last.

and Johnathan Martin was cut from the 49errors who desperately need all the help they can get doesn't bode well in the confidence department.

Well, their OT situation was not an issue for them at all last year and they didn't lose their starting tackle to retirement until after they waived Martin. He was just another backup to them when they waived him. And another thing to consider is the 49ers front office basically trying to get rid of everybody who was associated with Harbaugh. Martin was a Harbaugh guy all through. I'm not sold on our tackles either, but as of right now Martin is a backup for us, and he is definitely better than what we had last year.

Man I'm so excited to watch Norwell in year 2 with Khalil, Trai Turner and a up-in-coming Daryl Williams that's Massive!! Trai gas added a few pounds to add more push and take up space' bout to be awesome to watch them move the middle and whole right side when the defense know it's coming.. Too be able too run when we want too" and even when it's 3rd&7 or more we run without dout just knowing we want be stop!!!! If we do get stopped here we go again with Riverboat Ron going for it almost everytime.. Added help from Ward&TolbertTheDozer in the backfield* Just so... UNSTOPPABLE!!!

I see us keeping 9 OL and that 9th spot is up in the air. Remmers could become our backup center/tackle and we cut either Folkerts or Amini and keep Wallace as an extra tackle. This relies on whether Wallace shows he's worth keeping or not. And if they think he is, it could come down to Folkerts vs Amini. In which case I hope they choose Folkerts since he also can play guard.

If the choice is between Amini and 1 shoe lace I hope we pick the shoelace.

the Harbaugh & Associates Relocation Program (harp) is nothing more than a conspiracy theory .sorry but Martin started 9 games last season and was rated one of the worst tackles in the NFL by PFF...that IS the reason why Martin was  cut or waived.

IF Oher can be solid-good could be the difference of 8/9 wins to 12+ wins. All the pieces are there imo with the question being LT....and JStews health of course.

i dont think one position is that important with this team as stacked as it is. remember, we had 7.5 wins last year with a horrible OL struggling defense, injured quarterback, and mass exodus at receiver. its not a stretch for me to believe that with an above average line at 4 of 5 positions, a stacked receiving corps, stacked TE corps, stacked RB corps, and a healthy Cam Newton (something we've never really seen before - bothered by the ankle since Auburn remember?), that we could be a 12 win team or better even if Oher is only slightly less horrible than Bell. In other words, if Oher can play like his early Baltimore days, we are in good shape and our offense will have nothing but Mike Shula to worry about.

seriously... Mike Shula worries me so much more than Mike Oher does at this point in the offseason...

the 9 game absence of RT Anthony Davis appeared to make a HUGE difference on paper and. in the win loss column last season for the 49ers.because weeks 7 thru 15 last season the niners were 32nd (last) in the league at scoring points at 13.8 per game. Johnathan Martin starts weeks 6-15 where they struggled to establish the run or protect Kapernick (sacked 52 times on the season).guess what happens in week 16 whenever Anthony Davis returns...they rush for over 200 yards.

I want to be optimistic as everyone else but to say the tackle position isn't a deciding factor in the win loss column and how effective your offense is just  wishful thinking
