Unleash Joe Webb on offense!

In my one and only huddle offseason thread, I need to bring attention to the benefits of putting a webb package on offense. Joe Webb is a weapon that can throw, run, and catch. Not only can he catch, but also run the whole WR route tree. He could move form the backfield (as RB) to the slot(WR), back to QB.... The list of plays would endless. Think of trying to scheme up a defensive against webb, cam, olsen, stew, KB, and funchess!!! Webb would only be taking away snaps form tolbert, dickson, and random slot WR- truly not a issue. Being a QB, he should understand the whole offense. Hes also a beast in the weight room and one hell of a athlete. Shula could win back-to-back scoring titles and may force the NFL to make rule changes........

my favorite panther story ever was when they put in armanti edwards against the bears

they had like two plays installed for armanti, and fox was running it just as a middle finger to hurney.

this 2010 bears/panthers games was one of the worst games ive ever witnessed, and the carolina offensive line was getting manhandled.

armanti didn't look like he belonged on a highschool team, much less an nfl field.

ryan kalil reportedly told the defensive line what play it was and said "just don't kill him."

you can see them flow right to the ball, then just kinda gently wrap him up and place him on the ground. Bears players helped him up. You'd think it was his goddamn make a wish.

Then armanti trotted back to the sideline and back in came clausen/moore/pike/whomever the fug

i think this is the type of next level poo that we can expect to see during this, our undefeated season.

but for real, why not? as long as we rebuild this training camp, we can hang our nuts on whoever we want any way we want.

At the end of this game's nfl.com highlight reel you can see Greg Olsen in a bears jersey. So young and naive: Olsen is unaware of how much his life will change over the next few years.

I like Webb and his versatility but I don't see him as that big of a weapon. He's not that elusive. Can't man handle DBs like KB and Funchess could, doesn't have the speed of Ted Ginn, and can't throw as good as Cam.

Im always down for  the occasional trick play and I wouldn't mind see him throw some passes. But I personally expect this years offense to be the best in team history.

We've got the best passing TE in the game with two monster WRs outside who can fly in their own right. An extremely stout interior offensive line with a LT who can get the job done. A top 5 QB in Newton who's skills cannot be replicated.

We also have Ted Ginn bless his soul. For his short comings he is a pretty damn good weapon for us and can blow the top  off a defense at any  moment. He pairs great  with Cams arm.

And Corey Brown is a good WR too. I don't care what anyone says. That man has done nothing but improve and make plays.

What I am getting at is that I'm  not sure we'll  need to utilize Webb that much.

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
