Panthers are 2 games out of the wildcard

Need to go 3-1 at worse in the next 4 weeks to have a shot at anything. That will set the Panthers up for the final 4 games, which include 2 division games.

They will likely need to go 3-1 in the final 4 games as well.

I look at this season as SB or BUST. A playoff appearance without any success would be a major step back. I am willing to accept a competitive Conference Championship loss as successful.

That means the Panthers must at least win 8 of their next 11 games minimum. The secondary must make game clinching plays in some of those games to make it happen imo. I doubt the front 7 can protect that secondary for 8 more wins. 3 has been tough enough for them.

I will be amazed if they are able to cover for the secondary all season. Unfortunately, it would be bitter sweet due because it will prove the Panthers were capable of being contenders if they were not hamstrung by the front office again.

Atlanta is only 2 games ahead of us.  We beat them and I am certain they'll lose a couple more and we are even or ahead of them.  The NFC South is not lost yet.

This next weekend matchup with KC will be a tell all game for us.  We win, we'll get some respect back.

We just spotted them a couple games to make it interesting.

Go Panthers

Atlanta could always implode, but as I have Julio in my fantasy teams I have watched all their games and I just don't see it (Yes, I know I'm traitor, but I quote George Castanca "Mathematically, I had to do it!")

The other scenario involves 3-1 against Atlanta, Kansas City and back to back seahawks and Raiders on the road. We need 2015 Cam to do that, and he is not showing it.

Falcons have gotten lucky too this year- they played Denver when Paxton Lynch started and he looked AWFUL and they didn't even smoke them

I've said it once I'll say it again- the Falcons have a history of imploding and we have a history of playing great football during these months- We get to play them again at home and they still have a few tough games left- if the drop their next game in Philly this is a wide open race

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
