Before you look at the free-agents on the 31 other NFL, first business must be taken care of about the players already on the roster. Players due to receive new contracts on the Panthers in no particular order are as followed.

  1. Charles Johnson(DE)
  2. Mario Addison(DE)
  3. KK Short(DT)
  4. Kyle Love(DT)
  5. Leonard Johnson(CB)
  6. Collin Jones(FS/Buffalo)
  7. A.J Klein(ILB)
  8. Corey Brown(WR)
  9. Andrew Norwell(G)
  10. Ted Ginn Jr(WR)

Next we can look over the scheduled free agents and they will be presented in the format of...

PSA... Will be looking at UFAs only.

Position

  • Why this position should be improved.
  1. Potential targets

Running Back

  • As Igo has posted in the past, I believe that Panthers are going to draft a RB high in the upcoming draft but I think our 3rd down RB situation could be drastically improved. Fozzy could be improved upon IMO.
  1. Lance Dunbar(DAL) - Was up and coming until he tore his knee up last season and since Dallas drafted Elliott there hasn't been much field time for Dunbar.
  2. Travaris Cadet(NO) - New Orleans primary receiving option out of the backfield and a case of strengthening your team while weakening a rivals.
  3. Andre Ellington(ARI) - Kid who came out of Clemson with all of the athleticism in the world, stuck behind David Johnson but Ellington could flourish in a 3rd down role.
  4. Rex Burkhead(CIN) - Honorable mention since I just saw him play this past weekend against Baltimore and honestly looked better than Jeremy Hill. Really interested to see more out of him in the next 5 weeks.

Fullback

  • The Panthers desperately need a lead blocker not named Tolbert and Tolbert will almost definitely not return to Carolina.
  1. Patrick DiMarco(ATL) - Constantly floated around as the best FB in the NFL and another case of strengthening the roster while weakening a rivals.
  2. Kyle Juszczyk(BAL) - Seen him play for the Ravens, good in pass protection and reliable hands out of the backfield. Harvard kid.

Tight End

  • Ed Dickson doesn't even come close to cutting it in terms of blocking.
  1. Martellus Bennett(NE) - Probably a pipe dream but he's a hell of a player.
  2. Jack Doyle(IND) - The Colts who just spend good money on Dwayne Allen might not spend on Doyle.
  3. Vance McDonald(SF) - May be a better athlete than Greg and I've seen good things about his run block.

Tackle

  • A good swing tackle to run those 6 offensive linemen sets would be nice to see. The Raiders do it a ton and have success protected their QB. I think starting LT will be addressed in the draft. Would rather see money put into a good 2nd TE, but this wouldn't hurt.
  1. Luke Joeckel(JAX) - Drafted #2 overall not too long ago, do we have the coaching to make it work?
  2. Ricky Wagner(BAL) - One of them big boys out of Wisconsin.
  3. Matt Kalil(MIN) - Get the brothers back together and see what he's got left.

Defensive End

  • As long as Ryan Delaire is on the roster, DE will be a need
  1. Jabaal Sheard(NE) - Great season last year, has fallen off this season. Just 27 with some tread left on the tires.
  2. Devin Taylor(DET) - Detroit has a knack of developing pass rushers, also 27 years old.
  3. Chris Long(NE) - Savvy vet, not what he once was but better than what he got.

Cornerback

  • I believe the Panthers may be in the market for a nickel corner if Leonard Johnson does not produce in the last 5 games. I think Worley and Bradberry will remain the outside corners.
  1. D.J Hayden(OAK) - High draft pick, but simply never had the size to play outside. Has the potential to be a solid nickel corner.
  2. Logan Ryan(NE) - Has the knack of making plays, solid producer.
  3. Kayvon Webster(DEN) - Stuck behind Talib, Harris, and Roby in Denver.

Strong Safety

  • I believe Kurt Coleman belongs at FS and Tre Boston just isn't as good at FS as Coleman was.
  1. Tony Jefferson(ARI) - With Arizona most likely paying Chandler Jones this offseason, Jefferson may walk in free agency.
  2.  Kelcie McCray(SEA) - Kam Chancellor's backup.
  3. John Cyprien(JAX) - Classic in the box safety who racks up the tackles.

Players who if let go all 31 other teams will be chasing

  • These are the players who shouldn't reach free agency but if they do the Panthers are in the position to pounce. Doubtful it'll happen but a possibility.
  1. Eric Berry(FS/KC) - A top notch guy with top notch ability. Nuff said.
  2. JPP(DE/NYG) - Famously lost some fingers but still gets the job done as a premier 4-3 DE.
  3. Chandler Jones(DE/ARI) - Can rush the passer with the best of them.
  4. Le'Veon Bell(RB/PIT) - The best RB in the league IMO.
  5. Desean Jackson(WR/WAS) - Game changing speed, better/more injury prone version of Ginn Jr.

Potential Interesting Cap Casualties

  • The players that won't count towards towards comp picks, which Gettleman seems to factor.
  1. Elvis Dumervil(DE/BAL) - Still a excellent pass rusher when healthy.
  2. Donald Stephenson(OT/DEN) - Could be the swing tackle I previously mentioned.
  3. Clay Matthews(DE/GB) - Used to be a premier player in the league, not so much any more but can still contribute.
  4. Arthur Jones(DT/IND) - An disruptive force in the middle when healthy, does have suspension history.
  5. Mario Williams(DE/MIA) - Pass rusher specialist.
  6. Darrell Revis(CB/NYJ) - Would be a candidate to move to safety, could be successful just like Charles Woodson was.

Please discuss your thoughts and opinions in the comment section down below. The Panthers have $50 million in cap space to spend, would love to see some fresh talent brought into the fold.

Very good read. I plan on making my own version of a FA find list, along with draft choices.

All honesty if we can plug in a few holes, we should be good to go for the future.

As far as weaknesses (when the team is healthy), what I really see are as follows (With (*) ranging from 1(*)-5(*), with 1 being of least importance, and 5 being most important)

Starter Weakness:

  • Left Tackle *****
  • Strong Safety/Vet Safety Presence *****
  • Quality Everydown DE ***
  • Reliable WR (A WR that has sure hands/decent enough to get separation) **
  • 2nd Blocking TE *
  • Ditching the Fullback Option/Get a reliable FB **

Depth/future concerns:

  • Center of the future- Ryan Kalil is nearing his twilight years *****
  • OTs - Need a quality backup LT ***
  • Safety - Blessed with none of our safeties getting hurt (so far), but imagine if Boston, or Kurt goes down? ****
  • DE - Better DEs instead of poo-shows like Delaire ***
  • RB - A RB that can block as well behind Stewart **

All honesty, this isn't that much. Some of these could be seen as a stretch, and most teams are in a far worse situation.

I'll post some in depth analysis later, but this is more an outline of issues I see present.

This offseason be one of re-tooling and not rebuilding. Yes we have holes, but so will every other team. We actually needed to get younger; we had the 4th oldest opening day roster in the league this year.

    • It wasn’t completely his fault, but outside of two throws and one or two scrambles he didn’t do much to help. His accuracy was all over the place, numerous passes that were placed poorly and didn’t give the receiver a good chance to catch the ball or do anything with it after. He also continues to display terrible pocket awareness. Even the sacks could have been avoided, they weren’t immediate like the pressure we got on Shough at times. Bryce just often has no feel for pressure and stands there waiting to get sacked after numerous seconds have passed.
    • I really fuging hate this era in so many ways.  I look at those Adin Ross and Neon kids, and I just wonder why tf are they famous?  Why would anyone be desperate enough to gain THAT audience that they’d risk money, career, disciplinary action to go up there and associate with those fuging dweebs?  And back in my day, racist peers got their ass beat.  And not endorsing or approving bully culture, but checks and balances and all…  had those two been bullied, or at the very least humbled, they wouldn’t be famous and glorified for being the fuging idiots they are now.  It seriously pisses me off… they both have done and said multiple, openly racist stuff and major media keeps pushing them, talking about them, and propping them up… and then dummies like Puka who don’t need the platform or exposure lend their celebrity to them.  fuging idiot… and even the other streamers, I don’t get - Speed, Kai…  I don’t understand making nobodies famous at all, but there is at least entertainment value to some degree there, and I could see how young, impressionable kids would find them something to aspire to (sadly), or view as “cool.”  But Ross and Neon?  They’re just shitty, shitty nerds with big ass mouths. I’ve went back recently and watched some classics (in two very different eras and categories 😂)  like Robocop and Idiocracy.  And what I find fascinating is how both movies illustrate how stupid society became by showing what the citizenry is entertained by.  In both, society became anti-intellectual and the citizenry were entertained by lowest denominator, primal-type absurdity - poo like, “Ouch! My Balls!”  Or on Robocop, a guy is a watching a show where they are smashing cakes on ladies’ breasts and then a guy says a line as the camera zooms in like, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” and the audience thinks it’s hilarious.  That’s where I feel like we are now.  Like who watches that clip with Puka and thinks any of that poo is funny or cool?  If I was Puka, I’d honestly be wondering why tf I’m hanging out with these beta ass, racist, cretin ass weirdos.
    • 7 wins this year and some of those against really good teams and yall think Canales might get fired? Lol Good luck getting a better coach in here if that happens.
