Releasing Tolbert is a cap savings of 1.5 million

Releasing Soliai creates an extra $2.5 million & releasing Dickson creates an extra $2.1 million. That along with Tolbert's $1.5 million would be an $6.1 cap savings. Replace them with low salary capped players at about 700k per year would yield a savings of $4 million.

Stewart & Gano are tricky because them being cut would save $4.75 million and $3.1 million respectively but both are still solid contributors. If we replace them with low capped players there would be a savings of around $6.4 million.

Overall we could increase the cap by over $10 million by making those moves.

Does anyone understand how Oher retiring would affect the cap? Since he would be retiring and not getting cut?

Stewart, while when healthy is one of the best backs in the NFL is one of the biggest liabilities on the offense, he is a week to week 'iffy' player when game day comes and I'd rather not have that going forward.

We need to think long and hard about trying to invest in a solid kicker that can be with this team for 10+ years...Tucker is a rare find but we need to replace our kicker with someone more dependent when its time to get some points on the board.

Dickson is completely replaceable and no need for him to 'contribute' further to the team.

All possible candidates (maybe Gano is the safest).

Oher would save $2.5 mil as cut in the offseason and I'm pretty sure retirement would be treated the same.  Assuming Larsen says hot, Gradkowski would be a $750,000 cap savings as well.  I'd even consider looking at Anderson's $1.75 mil savings and look to start coaching up a young backup.

    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
