Wilks to be promoted to DC pending McDermott hire

Sweet!!! Sucks to lose McD, but Wilks should slide in nicely.  Did some wonderful things with JNo, Bradberry, Coleman, etc.  Give him Adams/Hooker or Barnett/Thomas on the edge and watch this defense return to prominence.

Next questions now - Will Washington follow McDermott to Buffalo? That would be a huge blow if he does.

Who takes over for Wilks.... saw some people saying Tillman or Harris.

Very excited to see how he does. He is one of the best coaches in the NFL (I think) and I hope he doesn't move up to being a HC too  quickly, because he has the chops for that too.

I'll be interested to see if he brings in some new faces even beyond replacing guys that McD takes with him.

I'm excited to see his take on Rivera's base defense.

Probably assistant defensive backs coach Curtis Fuller. Would be great to see Tillman get on the coaching staff officially as an assistant.

    • Names I'd keep an eye on... Coby White,  Jalen Suggs, Amen Thompson  and Stephen Castle...  3 teams except Orlando has checked on Melo before and rumblings of sours getting rid of fox too. I'd think they think Melo and Wemby would make them nuclear out west.
    • Well he somehow had 12 preseason carries for not playing. He also has 20 carries in the regular season, not three. He has actually played in about 7% of the offensive snaps for this regular season(33% of the special teams snaps). This isn't stuff you have to make up, these are very easily referenced statistics, man.
    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
