LB Coach Al Holcomb could follow McDermott to Buffalo

If that was the case, I doubt McDermott would make him his DC in Buffalo.  While I agree, Luke and TD don't need much coaching, I'm sure he had a larger say in the defense as a whole than you'd think (especially in light of McDermott's decision)

You're right about McD's confidence in him to be a DC. If that's official then that's a pretty meaningful thing. I'd want to know why Washington wasn't asked-- or if he turned it down. Again, I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but it's at least like a Klein situation where he may be good, but won't be a massive loss here.

I also have seen no evidence of Holcomb being a key coach for us, so until I hear Rivera or McD talk about him and what he does, then I have no reason to believe otherwise.

Good for him though, making a move.

Overall I think this is playing out best for everyone involved. As others have said, this team needs a shake up. Not even because McD wasn't doing well, but we've had basically the same staff for 6 years now. I just think it's time to have some kind of progression and luckily everyone is getting an upgrade and everyone is happy.

What kind of message will it send to this franchise when Sean extensively tries to poach out our defensive staff and outright ignores anybody affiliated with the offensive side of the ball.

None because he can't take anyone without giving them a promotion. So unless for some stupid reason he hires Ricky Proehl or Ray Brown or Jim Skipper as OC, I don't see him taking anyone on the offensive side and it won't send any message.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
