What if Fournett, Adams, ... are gone

What if Fournette, Adams, Allen, and Garrett are all off the board by the time we pick?  Depending on what happens with the QBs I could see this happening.

Who would everyone want then?  I see a lot of Adams or Fournette discussion but what is the backup plan if they aren't there? What if Hooker and Barnette are also gone, they seem to be two other popular picks around here?

There is no back up plan!  Haha, nah, I would consider drafting Desmond King.  Even if he is another rookie cornerback, he has great coverage skills and speed to go with his size.  Due to his size, he could also be a probowl type safety.  As for trading down, we never do that.  We trade up. (So don't rule out Garrett.  I wouldn't do it, but I could see if he fell to 3-4, Gettlemen pulling the trigger.)

1 Garrett, 2 Allen, 3 Adams, 4 Hooker, 5 Fournette, 6 Barnett, 7 Solomon Thomas, 8 Corey Davis, 9 Mike Williams

That's 9 prospects above we are guaranteed 2 of them and I'd be fine with any of them.

However, IF this doomsday scenario happened and no QB was drafted in the top 7 before us....you can bet your bottom dollar we'd be getting lots of calls of teams wanting to trade up for Watson, Kizer, Tribusky, etc.

Trade down would probably work in our favor and if we could still get Corey Davis I'd be ecstatic.

I'd look to trade down but knowing Gettleman... BPA would be Malik Mcdowell or Dalvin Cook.

That being said, it comes down to whether we want the top rated TE, OT, C/G, WR, LB vs 2-3rd rated Rb, Safety, DT, DE.... either way by the end of the draft, we should walk away with at minimum four "really good" players. Imo, its said every year, but this indeed is a very deep draft.

I don't see Thomas as a fit, he gets a lot of pressure from inside a la Kony Ealy in college

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
