Really? what has he done in the last 2 years to deserve that? if not for the bears and browns games this year he would have 1.5 sacks on the season.

Just to play devil's advocate, he had 24 hurries, good for 15th in the league despite only playing 12 games. Adjusted to reflect hurries per game, he ranked 4th in the NFL. He's still impacting the QB. Someone is gonna pay him more than you expect.

Would you consider him the best pass rusher available as a FA?

That's what going to get him paid.

That's what happens when the market's weak.

KK Short would be paid monstrous money in FA if he were let loose, since there's no other option available.

hurries are very subjective, honestly if he played for the browns instead of the giants no one would care, he gets a lot of hype due to name recognition from playing for the giants among fans and thats not going to help him in contract negotiations going forward.

For example during the 2000's Roy Williams with the cowboy's was all-pro once and went to 5 probowls. he was garbage in coverage. Mike Minter was way better during about the same time and didnt go to a single probowl because no one knew him outside of carolina.  same as Jordan Gross only going to 3 probowl when he was a stud his entire career here in carolina.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jabaal Sheard turns out to be a better value if put in the right system. This should be the right system.

Don't get me wrong, JPP has been the better player, but not millions upon millions of dollars better considering system, snaps, games, and the opportunity to play with better pass rushers.

I don't disagree. I wouldn't spend big money on him. There's definitely pros of playing for a big market team.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
