Would Malik Hooker Really Be A Bad Selection at 8?

Hooker plays centerfield, is a ballhawk, and possesses elite instincts and athleticism.

The last safety to have all that was Earl Thomas. You're insane.

He also misses tackles and is not even comparable on highlight films to Adams. He is not worth a top ten pick in my OPINION. This is an opinion site and yes I am quite insane.

Hes not going to make it past the Chargers.  Gus Bradley is their new DC.  He was the orginal DC in Seattle who created legion of boom drafting Earl Thomas in the 1st and Kam Chancellor in the 5th.  Safeties are are vital part of his D and he drools over rangy FS

No it wouldn't be. Rivera really wanted a coverage safety bad years ago and pushed San Diego to trade up to get Eric Weddle. Worked out well. Hooker would function in the same role as Weddle did for Rivera.

Jamal Adams would be more of a Mike Brown for the Bears in terms of utilization for those trying to understand the difference within the scheme.

He pushed for trading up to get a safety when he was the linebackers coach? That's some serious clout.

Oh no, missed tackles... he's a bust.

I guess you wouldn't have drafted TD then.

Tackling can be taught. Speed, instincts, size and hands cannot.

Tackling was Davis strong point.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
