Our cap space

Captain Morgan

Recommended Posts

On this board I've seen around a 10 mill difference on our projected cap space, although not much talk about it lately.  Some have claimed around 4 mill, but spotrac says around 14 mill.  Can someone who understands better than me help out here?  I'd feel a whole lot better about being able to sign our guards and Star if we had 14 we could rollover or use to restructure.

There appears to be a whopping difference in our top 51 space compared to all (if I'm reading right, 18 million?)

Here's the link

The Panthers as of now look to be heading towards 2018 with right around $24 million in cap space when including the possible rollover from their current $15,709,963 million in 2017 along with another possible $10 million jump in the 2018 cap.

This is based on the current 2018 projection from OverTheCap.com at $14,518,612 million on a $178,000,000 million cap. This does not include the rollover at this point in time from 2017, but does include a cap jump from $167 million (2017) to $178 million (2018).

I took the liberty of subtracting that 2017 rollover down to about $10 million based on possible circumstances that would require them to spend in 2017 (injuries etc.) and added it to that $14.518 million projection for 2018.

Current numbers are pointless with Turner and Norwell contracts coming up.

Are we really ready to hand out 2 giant deals to both our starting guards? I love them both, but that's a luxury we can't afford, I think.

I've got to disagree. I think it's a necessity that we can't afford to pass up. They won't be cheap, but it won't be like trying to sign two ProBowl tackles, either.

They're a luxury? We're just now starting to fix our tackles and now you want guard to become an issue? I'd rather Cam have a stable line for a change.

Exactly. They've gone too long not taking the oline protection very seriously and Cam has been paying the price dearly .

Hell we don't really know if we've even fixed the tackle situation yet . M Kalil has been attrocious in his past few seasons , Oher is done , Moton is a rookie , and we don't know what Williams is as a full time starter

would LOVE to get them both locked up- good young guards are going to be getting tackle money soon in free agency
