Wanna bet? If he continues to wing it with sloppy play, it's only a matter of time. He struggles to get separation, quits on routes and continues to have concentration drops.

We just drafted McCaffrey and Samuel.

People appear to be thinking that McCaffrey is a wide receiver. He is and likely always will be primarily and effectively a running back. If he is going to have a profound effect upon any receiver (which I don't believe is realistic), it will be the guys that run primarily from the slot. As long as KB is primarily an outside guy, his job won't be affected by CMC.

Now Samuel (or Funchess or Byrd) could be another story. A lot would have to happen though. But, as the article points out, Benjamin seems dedicated, so let's put yesteryear behind us and look optimistically towards the future.

If Benjamin was out of shape during the season then sure be worried. It's the damn off-season he's allowed to relax as long as he's willing to put in the work to get back down once it's time to which he was.

I agree that the offseason is his free time. So, yeah he is allowed to relax. But gaining 20 lbs in 4 months for ANYONE means he was letting loose a little too much. If he wants to continue to grow and get better he can't start every season trying to get back to where he was. He is a professional athlete. His body is his paycheck.

I"ll bet you, want to make it a ban bet?

I know for fact (barring injury) Kelvin will be our number 1 WR, and it sure as chit won't be Funchess bum ass who takes his spot. I'm willing to take it even further, Funchess will lose his spot to Samuel, Shepard or Byrd.

I think Kelvin will catch fire and make 2016 a distant bad memory.

As discussed, the ACL issue was a non-trivial factor last year. It takes AGES to be the same player you were - and it used to be that you never really got there (things have gotten better medically in recent times). It's not an excuse, just a reality. I believe Kelvin is finally getting back to his best, thank goodness.

With KB, CMC, Samuel, and W.E.A.P.O.N., we'll have a lot of tools at hand this season.

The point someone brought up earlier about possible regression after landing a big contract is fair, though. Athletes have the right to do whatever they like with their free time...but that doesn't mean that what they DO choose to do isn't a warning sign.
