Funchess demoted?

So what does everyone make of Funchess playing later into the game last night? 

Definitely a message sent to him from the coaching staff?

Funchess along with Byrd were non factors last night. Maybe a fire needs to be lit.

I think he is obviously on the verge of losing time. I think last night was last chance to prove it, or they could possibly be thinking about moving him.

Not sure what to make of it.  My guess is they wanted to get a look at other guys with the first and second team units.  Funch is an enigma right now with the way he is being used.   But until someone else steps up he is going to be the #2 by default.

You can only say so much when the QB has been ''bad'' Derek Anderson, and not ''replace Cam'' Derek Anderson. I saw what both can do throughout the pre-season. 

Like many I'd like to see Webb potentially elevated to #2, and I like Gilbert as #3. But I don't think that we'd ever see that happen, but his play has been very poor this pre-season. Vs second stringers I expected more.

i'm not sure if its a demotion or he is in same place as last year.  I quess it would be a demotion because ron wanted to use him more this year.

When Samuel came up hobbled I about lost it. The term 'injury prone' came into my mind. Seeing him go back in was a little bittersweet for me. I loved that he wanted to get back in the game and fight through the pain. But it's preseason. Regardless, with only Benjamin actually showing out in game situations, Samuel could be imperative to our success this year.

In the realm of good NFL players, Devin Funchess is not one of them.  He certainly loves posting pics of his puppy and talking about the grind on Instagram, though.
