Listening to this Jalen Ramsey Soundbite about Seahawks - Do The Panthers Lack Confidence?

When asked about Seahawks and their accomplishments, Jalen pretty much said this is a whole new year. Stop hyping people up

The point I'm trying to make is teams like Hawks, Pats, Steelers or even a team that's picked favorably to beat you, you do too much and make mistakes. We were picked against in the media and went out and made mistakes

When I think back to the 2015 team, Roman Harper used to say when talking to media, "we're the better team" quite a couple times. I believed him. The team KNEW. They didn't think or believed that statement was true, they knew it was true. After that emotional win in Seattle, Panthers came back and beat the Eagles, didn't let us down, I brushed off every team after honestly. I knew, I even brushed off the Broncos. We was beating teams, letting them comeback... whatever. We went down 14-0 and Saints had all momentum, never once panicked not as a team, and not as a fan. If we go down 14 points TODAY??? Forget about it. That says a lot. Sitting here 8-4, much different thoughts going into games this year. Its obvious that team was full of confidence and swagger. So sitting here with a winning record, what's the difference between those two seasons just 2 years apart? Is it just being audacious or just the talent was flat out better on that team?

I like this Ramsey kid.  He has that prototypical lockdown corner attitude and obviously has the skills to back it up.

To answer the question though, Bradberry has shown some skills in patches, but I don't think I've heard him speak.  Ever.

The whole team is missing the spirit and mojo from 2015. I'm not quite sure why and how tho, other than Norman leaving and possibly Cam getting older and experiencing all the injuries from last season and this one.

We dont really have any outspoken in your face personalties on defense and I think thats part of the reason why the secondary has been shredded so much this year. Sure some of it is the ability of the players, but for sure its also personality types.

We pretty much have a bunch of nice guys besides Cam . We don't have a Steve Smith or Josh Norman on the team. I guess supposedly Shepard had a big mouth in the pre season and maybe in practice, but he doesn't back it up in games so I doubt hes very talkative when everythings on the line.

You also have to think about what JR wants in his players . He probably worked with Gettleman and Rivera to make sure they selected for the most part well behaved dudes that fit his preferred personality type.

I remember when Harper would say that. He knew we were going to the bowl game midway through the season. That team had confidence. It had what folks call swagger, and that is a lot more important than Gettleman, people on here, and people in general believe. We lost that, as well as, a great deal of talent when Getts pulled that franchise tag. Bradberry’s cool, but he doesn’t have IT. Ramsey’s got IT.

Oh well, can’t keep reminiscing on 2015. It’s 2017 about to be 2018.

Team lacks confidence because there’s been so many who have told them to “tone it down”, whether it’s JR, Ron Rivera, the refs & other players (when players were bashing Cams head in and the refs were allowing it), and the fans (Panther fans included).

It sucks seeing all these other teams out here dancing & having fun on the sidelines, because when our team did it, everyone had a problem with it.

I'm laughing my ass off about ppl quoting Harper and the swagger right before blaming Gettleman for pulling the franchise tag on JNo like Gettleman wasn't the guy that signed Harper and before that Mitchell.

What have you done for me lately league.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
