At this rate it’s eventually gonna be “Funchess is only 38, he still has room to grow”. He’s been in the league 3 years now.  I know it takes a while to adjust, but 8 haven’t seen enough growth from him to put all our faith he can be a solid #1.  I like him as a mid to low tier #2 or a good #3 but we need more young playmakers at wr.

I mean, I'd prefer KB, but apparently his knee is a time bomb. :(

Cam has a solid #1 in Olsen. I definitely agree in Funch being mid-low #2, but I also have more faith in Cam working with Olsen, CMC, Samuel, and Byrd so long as he has a functioning OL.

Wouldn't exactly be out of the realm of possibility.  I think this offseason, we have the choice of signing Norwell or resigning Ryan Kalil, in case either isn't on the team next year, this guy would be a great replacement.  IMO, I'd move on from Ryan and keep Norwell because of his health issues.  We saw just how important a good center is when R. Kalil came back with our run game almost instantly exploding.

I'm gonna say something  that's unpopular to say on this board.

I though Ryan is an all pro, I can't help to think him being so undersized is a huge factor in our lack of a power running offense.

I can remember Ron commenting on it after the 49ers beat us in the playoffs in '13, when he didn't call a QB sneak.

I have been keeping up with the draft forever atp and Kiper many, many years gives us OL.  I think he isnt interested much in Carolina.  Thats my take.   And no, we dont pick an interior DL, or OL unless he is cant miss amazing.

Top needs to me:  WR, SS, DE and LB.  RB if a great player drops and yes QB if one drops.

Every year during the season this board complains about the offensive line for Cam.  Once the season ends and we start talking about drafting everyone starts to fall in love with the "playmakers".

If we don't resign Norwell this guy could be a cheaper replacement.  If we do resign Norwell maybe they look at this guy as a center prospect that could replace Kalil in a year at a cheaper cost which would help reduce the overall cost of the oline.

Personally though I'm not a huge fan of drafting guards or centers in the first round.  Their replacement cost in free agency tends to be lower then other positions, but I could see us drafting Kalil's replacement this year.  Personally if we can sign a FA receiver (Lee or Wallace) I wouldn't mind us going LT or safety in the first.  Maybe receiver in second and then center in third.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
