What is the best supporting cast Cam has ever had?

and do we have a chance at this year being his best? What other moves need to be made to surround him with the most help he's had in his career?

Personally I think he had his best supporting cast overall in 13 and I hated Hixon.

2013

Receiving Targets:Smith,Olsen, Lafell, Ginn, and Hixon.

RB: Williams, Stewart and Tolbert in the backfield.

This was also his last year with Gross and Wharton anchoring the left side of the line.

2016 or 2011 would be the runner up IMO.

2016

Receiving Targets: Olsen, Benjamin, Ginn, Funchess

RB:Stewart, Fozzy and Cap.

2011

Receiving Targets: Smith, Olsen, Lafell, Shockey and Nanee ( He actually managed over 400 yards that year)

RB: Williams, Stewart and Goodson. (Cam, Stewart and Williams all had over 5 ypc that year and over 700 yards a piece)

Jury has spoken, 2011 it is. Pretty damn sad that his rookie year is the best supporting cast we have given him in a 7 year career.

What other moves does Hurney need to make to right this ship?

Here are his most targeted receivers from last year with the number of times they were targeted.

  1. McCaffrey -113
  2. Funchess -111
  3. Benjamin    51 (over 8 games)
  4. Dickson      48
  5. Olsen          38 (skewed by injury)
  6. Shepard     33
  7. Samuel       26
  8. Byrd            17
  9. Klay             15

Rushing attemps for 2018

  1. Stewart      198
  2. CAM            139
  3. McCaffrey  117
  4. CAP                18
  5. WHITAKER     7

Yeah, 2011 by a landslide.  That was such fun to watch, and it's no coincidence, Cam was setting passing records left and right that year.  Give him the weapons and protection and you'll quickly find that footwork and accuracy improves leaps and bounds.  He just needs the weapons.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
