frankly, this is a statement game. But we all know Ron after a bye, although that changed last year I think. Point is, this is a game where we should win 40-20 and our offense shines and defense makes the stops. BTW we have a terrible redzone defense b/c our secondary is terrible.

I need to double check my data, but I *THINK* that losing after a bye narrative totally turned around in 2015.

If my quick glance at the team rankings site is correct:

Panthers were 0-5 in 2011 - 2014 after a bye (incl playoffs I believe)

And 4-0 since 2015 (including playoffs, but not incl SB for some reason) I believe.  Would be 4-1 incl SB loss.

I'll double check...

By the way, this is a cool article with Bye Week analysis that I found when I just googled post - bye week records

I'm never one to take teams lightly, but I've got to admit the Giants don't really concern me that much.

They were the second worst team in the NFL just last year (only the Browns were worse) and while they certainly have some players they can build on, that process is going to take some time. Finding Eli's successor won't be an easy task either.

Down the road, maybe. Now, not so much.

The Giants last year and this year are exactly why I don't support the "all in" approach to winning a Super Bowl.

Saints did it a number of years ago, and they floundered around 8-8 for a few seasons after.

Maybe the Rams can win it this season playing that way, but they aren't really, as they have their QB on his rookie deal.

To the OP, I'm not all that concerned about the Giants, but I bet the Vikes weren't either about the Bills this week.  We go in there expecting to win, and we could get hammered.  We are good, but not that good.  Yet.

With a couple of weeks to prepare, I expect a few more new wrinkles from the offence & Norv. Possibly more on passing game besides CMC. Expect bigger game from Juluis Peppers since he is probably tired of hearing [via the big mouth/know nothing media] comparisons to Strahan

Not only that, but going all in by signing a bunch of big name players to big deals makes you susceptible to injuries derailing your season.

If you put so much of your resources into just a handful of big-time impact starters, then you have to take that money from somewhere else...and that's your depth.  It's great if everyone stays relatively healthy, but just a couple of key injuries, and you're season is virtually over since you don't have enough quality depth.

Every team has injuries, but the difference between the contenders and pretenders is how well they're able to overcome those injuries.  If all you can afford is scrubs as depth, then you're in serious trouble.
