Offense was not clicking.

Were play calls slow coming in or what is it? Had to burn 2 timeouts to prevent delay of game.  And didn't we get 1 of those?   Came very close several other times.  I found myself watching the play clock a lot this game.

Couldn't execute a screen play.

Special teams bailed out the offense (and defense).

Play clock has been a real issue for years with us . . . it's not new, but yes, it's a definite concern.

When Shula was OC, I was thinking he was just slow calling plays and getting them to Cam.

When we still saw it with Norv early in the season, I was thinking that it was just our learning curve with a new OC.

Now, I think at least some of the blame needs to fall squarely on Cam for not getting the team in and out of the huddle quickly enough.

This is a competitive disadvantage for us that we need to get squared away.  We need to find a way to get ourselves to the line faster.

I felt like  Shula was called back to call in plays ..

There were things on offense that I did like,, Samuels , D J Moore actually in the offense ( as more than a bubble screen or end around )

The clock management was difficult to watch,, getting plays in , in particular.

There   are no easy wins in the NFL ..  we take the win, and keep moving

The GOOD NEWS..  We're  3-1 after a quarter of the season.  If  Gano doesn't make that field goal, that's a horrible loss.

Norv did what I criticized Shula of doing during his tenure as OC, not having a pulse for the game. We ran the ball way too much on predictable downs & distances. Also, Samuel and Moore were making plays, but they probably ended up with less snaps than Torrey. Finally, offense lacked a killer instinct, kept settling for field goals instead of touchdowns. Which allowed Giants to make a comeback. I still have faith in Norv, but that was a Shulaesque performance by him.

One thing I have noticed whenever Cam gets a first down running, we scramble to get the next play off.

Listen, I have no problem with Cam getting the crowd Hyped up and doing a first down point. The act does not offend me in the slightest. I'm a firm believer in the idea of "if you don't like it, stop him"

But the fact that he is the person that is responsible for calling the plays, and that his celebration delays information from being relayed to the rest of the team bothers me. It takes him 5-10 seconds to swag on the guys, then another 5-10 to get back to the huddle to relay the next play. That's time we don't get back for the next playcall. If he can reign the point to 5 seconds max, it wouldn't be an issue, but sometimes he lingers. Speed up the swag.

no idea what that was all about. very odd game for norv wrt timing the playcalling, though i imagine a lot of it was gameplanning to run against a weak defensive front and keep eli manning and OBJ off the field, a fairly standard gameplan.

I know we've speculated before about this, but even the announcers brought it up yesterday on the TV broadcast.  The play clock seems to be in a weird place.  Is it just not very visible to the players from certain parts of the field?  It seemed both teams struggled with time management yesterday.

I don't understand why we aren't utilizing CJ Andersen more.  He had 4 run attempts yesterday.

He was terrible yesterday. Was getting stopped at the line when he could’ve had an easy 5+...

When Samuel and Byrd got to play last year they looked really good beforeinjury. Torrey Smith coming in here and snatching a starting spot easy is just laughable. The guy has been a role player his entire career, great guy but just a role player.
