3rd Q. Cam last second decides not to throw a wide open TD.

Use the checkdown more, but Ian Thomas was the sole reason for both of those INTs. Faked inside to turn the seam into skinny post, and stayed on the seam.. easy INT. Then, stopped running and settled in a hole, which Cam then threw it straight to Jenkins for the pick.

What happened to CMC on checkdowns?  The past 2 games Cam has not even looked in that direction.  Are teams just explicitly taking that away from us, or what?  I seem to remember 3 or 4 times on Sunday seeing CMC wide open in the flat with nothing but green infront of him.

normally when Cam plays as poorly as he did Sunday we get beat by the bears 17 - 3. the fact that we still put up 33 points is a pretty good sign

I think the heat probably played a factor. Stuff was brutal.

I think Cam is great, the first half he played well he did not play well in the 2nd half. Caf was open frequently and he was throwing into double/triple coverage. Bad game for him, hopefully he plays better next week. It was hot as balls out there. Humidity was absurd. I'm just glad we got the win.

They will watch film and pull the trigger on that one for sure. It shows good things that the play calls are actually good and we really do have the opportunities unlike with Shula where you watch the film and it's bullshit. At least here we can say he had him and everything was good just missed him.

Also when Rivera takes the ball out of his hands and he has to come up with something cold barrel having literally not thrown the ball for real life time for like 10's of minutes doesn't help. It doesn't help when we do the hurry up and it works then the shut it down immediately. It doesn't help when we get a 3 point lead and he hands the ball off until it's Cam save me time. If you keep letting Cam pass the ball  he can actually stay in rhythm. Rivera is a shitty coach to have with a QB like this. I think Rivera is the only coach in NFL history that shuts down his HoF/elite QB every chance he gets.

Ugly game after the 2nd half.. if bye-weeks aren’t killer it’s after halftime. Telling signs of a poor coach.

Cam heard a ghost. LT disengaged then reengaged his man. Cam should have thrown it. In his defense, seems he isn't quite sure yet what he has in his what 4th/5th O line combo. He's human. Damn every single game, every single year, this board bitches as though Cam is causing the lions share of the problems. Did Cam also make the defense flaccid? We ran into a brick wall 2 down almost every drive then asked Cam to "do something", on third. There was 0 rhythm in this game. He is not above criticism, it's just the criticism he receives is in place of the rest of the team being on this day and ones like it, average as hell.

Yeah sure. You can argue he “felt pressure,” but you can’t defend him with that too much as he only was pressured 3 times total. This should’ve been a TD.

And I’m the biggest Cam defender on here. But this was weird to see him so off and seeing ghosts Sunday. I’m sure he’s definitely on top of it this week.

 

The Panthers are notorious for either poor performances or losing coming  off bye weeks  

Whatever Newton’s problems were last week, best be getting it together this week 

The second easiest game on the schedule is Washington. The first was the Giants. 

As off as Newton was, that DC, more off. Concerned

Yeah, looked like he was reading the safety over the top to commit. My guess is he wanted to move the safety to Wright with his eyes so he could hit the receiver on the left, but the safety doesn't move that way until Cam has pressure.  

I don't know. I'm reaching. Cam has way too much arm talent not to drive that ball into Wright's chest. That's a flick of the wrist for him.

I know you love the all 22, but you can see by his head his reads were out, post, dumpoff. Not once did he look for the fade. So, yes, it COULD have been a TD, but it wouldn't have ever happened because it didn't get to that read

Cam has this type of game about four games a year and most years we take four losses. We stole a win here and luckily we will get on point Cam coming up real soon.
