Here's our free agents....who do you want back?

Impossible question to answer because we have no idea how much they are expecting and their price point changes their value to the team.

Quick list:

Williams:  Seems like if he and Moton can handle the tackle spots that frees us up elsewhere to use draft picks or sign free agents.

Love:  I think he played a lot better than some around think.

Peppers:  Depending on how much he wants, could be worthwhile in a situational role.

Reid:  I think he can be an asset, just not sure how much he expects.

I just hope we don't overpay for replacement level players.  I think sometimes teams are quick to hand out small contracts, 1-2 million, to guys that you could replace for 600-700k.

Those $1.5m contracts don't seem like much when the cap is $180m but if you hand out enough of them that might be the difference in being able to afford a mid to upper tier free agent.

A better question would be, who on that list would you be willing to pay more than 600k to?

Eric Reid with a full offseason to learn how to play safety in our system (3-4 or 4-3) will probably be a big impact player at safety next season. He is the same player that was a pro bowler in San Fran.

Williams should be our biggest concern. He is a top end tackle when healthy and with a not 100% Cam back there we NEED to sign him

Tbh everyone else I would be fine with us not signing. We should probably try to restructure Short and maybe Cam (if we can) this offseason

Mighty hard to argue against your basic principle there. It's all academic until we see the numbers.

Williams and Reid are must signs imo.

Moton and Williams are pro bowl caliber tackles. We can’t cheap out on the offensive line anymore.

Reid is the perfect SS for Rivera’s defense and I don’t think he will be very expensive due to political reasons.

I would welcome Peppers and Love back if they are cheap and we don’t plan on using them for anything more than situational pass rushing / depth. Both should be no more than 4th string DE/DT.

No one else should even be considered.

1) Eric Reid, because we suck at putting decent Safeties on the field. Played reasonable this year.

2) Kyle Love, because we need good depth on the defensive line..plus is was good when on field. However, if we change to a 3-4 scheme then no.

3) Julius Peppers, only on a vet min/low end  contact. Would love to see him finish 3rd all time on sacks list with us. Also, fills in a players - coach.

4) David Mayo, decent player. T.D being gone, would love to have some continuity with the LB corps until we know what we have with last years draft class of LBs.

5) Edit* forgot to add Chris Clark. Not an All-Pro tackle by no stretch of the imagination, but dude balled out from couch to field. I think he would be solid depth at both tackle positions.

Everybody else: Good bye.
