We don't need him with Eric now but man he's a solid player not sure wtf Gettleman is doing.

I gotta say that I was one of the biggest Gettleman homers on this board, but as time passes he gets farther and farther away from his hits and has more and more misses

Yea I think we need more of a rangy safety rather than another in the box guy.

We couldn’t sign Collins if we wanted to. We just signed one “box safety” that can’t cover. Where are we playing Collins?

But hey....reset the market again and overpay. It’s a habit and expected.

Yeah. I'd say our "big free agent safety signing" came last week.

Dave doesn't place a high value on DBs, but I still doubt he lets Collins walk. I know the tag price is high for safety still, you do not let great young talent walk. Dave did state one of the reasons he traded up for Funchess was during the beginning of 2nd " names on our list were flying off". I believe Collins was one of them. Collins also one biggest turn arounds form 1st year to 2nd. He went form AAF trash, to ALL-pro discussion in one offseason.

Do Want.

Been saying it for a long time.

Lock him up for 3-4 years and our safety spots are set, and elite.

I'm not sure Eric Reid is really great at pass coverage. So is Collins good at that? We need a saftey with really good mid fielder ball hawking skills.

Not really.

There's been speculation the Giants might try to turn him into a linebacker, but I don't know that there's any foundation for that.

Would much rather have had him than Reid even for more money but doesn’t make a ton of sense with us already having signed Reid. They are the same type of player. With Reid here we need a ball hawking coverage FS otherwise we’d get torched back there. Seems like E Thomas to Dallas is a given but if not I’d seriously go after him.

Everyone pining for Collins really has no idea what they are talking about.

He had one good year in 2016 and has since been exploited as a one trick in the box safety who couldn't cover a baby with a blanket. Dude has zero coverage skills. For real.

He wants to be paid like Earl Thomas or Eric Berry and he is nowhere near their level. He's good at one thing, very good at it even, and that's thumping, but he becomes a liability in coverage on every play he is tasked with doing so. We already have our thumper in Reid who is significantly cheaper and actually better at coverage. Now we need our center fielder. I can tell you all, Collins isn't it.

Much like you don't pay star lotulelei Aaron Donald money, you don't pay Landon Collins Eric Berry money.
