Three Potential Impact Players Flying Under the Radar

Well-written article by someone who is actually knowledgeable about the team.

Makes a solid argument for these guys and provides real evidence about each:

1) Ross Cockrell- His return could provide the Panthers with their best starting 3 CB's in years.  He was brought in as a presumptive starter last season before breaking his leg.  In 2017, he allowed a 69.7 passer rating when targeted in coverage last season with NYG - 19th best out of 124 CBs with 475 snaps in coverage.  Started 32 games from 2015 - 2017 for the Steelers and Giants.  Will give the Panthers much needed depth and flexibility as he can play the slot as well as outside.

2) Jermaine Carter, Jr.- Last year's 5th Rounder had a strong preseason, and in spite of limited playing time last year due to being behind Kuechly, Thompson, and Davis on the depth chart, showed off his explosiveness and athleticism during Week 17 against the Saints.  Carter led the Maryland Terrapins in tackles his final 3 years, and while he will not likely not see too many snaps on defense, his continued development would be great since Thompson isn't signed beyond this year.  Would be a likely candidate to fill TD's spot as OLB when Panthers use a traditional 4-3 Front.

3) Kyle Love- Perhaps the most underrated signing of the offseason.  Love quietly and arguably was our best DT last year, even in a backup role.  He forced 3 fumbles last year, and made impact plays in crucial times, including recovering Wentz's fumble in Philly for the game-winner.  Will also be a crucial rotational piece in both 3-man and 4-man fronts, and has extensive experience in both.  In 2011, Love started 13 games and played over 200 snaps at NT for the Patriots.  In 2012, he played primarily as a 3-4 DE after the Patriots brought in Vince Wilfork.  His ability to back up all 3 starters in this year's 3-4 front (McCoy, Poe, and Short) will be crucial to the overall success of the Front 7.

What happened to Korn?

They're still around - saw them with Rob Zombie a year or two back. Great show. More of an electronic sound now than the drop-tuned nu metal albums of the mid 90s.

Ross Cockrell- the guy everyone forgets about. Barring another injury he should really solidify our secondary.

Jermaine Carter- pretty sure EVERYONE looked good week 17 against the Aints.

Kyle Love- been really good for us, doesn’t get the recognition that KK and others get but he keeps getting the job done.

This!

This time last year, people were so excited over this guy.  Wven to the loint some thought he'd be the #1B to Bradberry after he was coming off a subpar sophomore season

After the break last year, Jackson breaking out, Bradberry having a good season.  You wouldn't even know this guy is still on the team.  Not a word from anyone on him this offseason.

I created the thread on him to see if insiders/guys who attend the camps/know people such as @Jeremy Igo  @RoaringRiot

igo mentioned he was looking good and running with the 1s.

This has me just as excited as the McCoy signing.  Because Captain Killed us last year from that #3 CB

I get the Cockrell pick for this, and I like Carter.  I was always counting on Love, however.  Never under the radar.

If I had to pick 3 under the radar players, I would go:

Gaulden.  Not under the radar, but he might play well enough for people who trashed him all year to start denying they ever did.

Williams.  Since Moton played well at RT and we took Little in the draft to play LT, not a lot has been said about Williams.  He could become a stud LG.

Armah.  I read a few tweets from mini camp and he seems to be more involved in the passing game.  He played some TE in college.  If they use him to give Cam yet another weapon, he could become noticed.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
