That draft class is certainly a perfect example of why you never go into a draft desperate at a position group. He threw mud at that CB wall praying for something to stick. At least we got Bradberry out of that mud slinging.

wrong draft

the draft you are talking about is the Bradberry, Worley, Sanchez draft

Elder was part of the 2017 CMC class with Samuel, Moton, Armah. It actually may have been Gettleman's best draft in terms of productive players, especially if we'd kept Butker. Hall was a bust and Elder was certainly hampered by missing his entire rookie year. But to hit on 5 of 7... Very nice. Especially given the QUALITY of players. CMC is already elite, Samuel and Moton also could be elite players.

Elliot was actually the highest graded corner (per off) on the Bucs last year...mind you, that's not saying much.

The writing may be on the wall with Elder... The question is, do we want to give up on him before he's had a full chance to develop. This is basically his second season, since he was injured his entire first. My thing is, I can't say I remember ever seeing or hearing him flash in a game or practice, although I could be wrong. When he was drafted I figured at the very least we'd have a punt returner....nah.

5 of 7 is an insanely productive draft. And I forgot about Hall, would have liked to see if he could have produced in this 3-4.

I was mixing Elder up with Sanchez. Ouch, so one season after spamming three picks at CBs we had to go and draft another one. Ultimately, it looks likely that only one of those four picks will work out.

    • Best birthday present ever!
    • People were discussing the new backup QB in comparison the the starter.  Neither has anything close to a cannon.  Video was posted of them throwing.  If people can’t be free to express their opinions without being put on a list of posters who have ruined this place we have a bad situation here. People trying to silence  criticism of the QB.    Maybe actually post about the other players instead of about the other posters. That is where it went off the rails.
    • That's true and we're definitely going to hear more about it as summer progresses. But at the end of the day all of the progress we've made on the roster as a whole will only matter if our passing offense can emerge from the basement of the NFL. In 2023 it was 32 out of 32 in 2024 it was 30th out of 32 and last year it was 26th out of 32. And early in the season we relied heavily on a career year from Rico Dowdle who is no longer on the roster. This is only reinforced by the fact that we (depending on how one views it) effectively took playcalling out of Dave Canales hands and brought in another offensive mind. The elephant in the room isn't going anywhere no matter how much we may not like it.
