Biggest ?: OL, on paper it looks improved but we haven't seen that translate to the field so far.

Biggest disappointment: Again, I'd say OL but since I already named them I'll say the backup QBs.

Biggest surprise: Burns looks like he's going to be a beast. Not necessarily shocking for a 1st round pick, but if he's as good out of the gates as he looks to be that will be a surprising transition to the NFL as a rookie.

Most improved player: Samuel

MVP: I'd say Cam's right shoulder. That a looks good so far. Better than it did even early on last season before it went downhill.

Most Confusing Poll .........  WFNZ

How exactly are we supposed to name biggest surprise or biggest disappointment when we are still in preseason?

It's like they read the Huddle or something.

Not poll, your predictions

Worst Charlotte Radio Station: WFNZ

biggest hack in Charlotte radio: Chris McClain and the other bozos on the morning show.

Has anyone ever told you that you just radiate positivity? It’s like an aura.

I basically echo this.  While I firmly believe our starting oline will get it together, I was just hoping it would happen sooner rather than later.

Early in the draft process I had misgivings about Burns.  His size bothered me.  When he was picked, I was behind him all the way.  And I know Preseason MVPs don't always translate to the regular season...but I really am loving his explosiveness and how hungry he is to get to the ball.  His second effort, not giving up on plays.  Just everything.

Samuel has been looking amazing, and thats not just Panther Homerism.  He has been getting a lot of nods from the national media in various formats.

Biggest? ... Poe?

Biggest disappointment: Want to say Grier and he has been so far but rookie QB only played couple of preseason. I’ll say the OL I felt it was improved in the offense to really still perform as bad as last year...

Biggest surprise? Terry Godwin. Several I wanted to name here like Burns, Haynes, Scarlett but felt like they were going to be good. I’ll say Terry because 7th round pick and be has looks natural out there and brought life to our return game.

Most improved: would say Samuel here which from camp and the little action he has been most improved but I’m going to say my jaw has dropped from Haynes performance this preseason

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
