2019 simulated... Panthers finish last in NFCS

If the Panthers start out 1-6, I'd expect that:

  • Cam is out for the year
  • CMC is out for the year
  • Kuechly is in concussion protocol
  • At least 3 injuries to the secondary

That's the only way I can see a scenario in which the Panthers give up a butt-load of points, but don't score many themselves. Gimme a break.

if cam's shoulder goes i wouldn't be surprised to see carolina lose out.

Reluctantly agree. Don't have a whole lot of faith in the backups. Would be ugly for sure.

If he's healthy, we're easily a 10+ win team. Shoulder goes out, we don't win.

One thing worth remembering if the season does go in the tank...

Jerry Richardson generally didn't believe in midseason firings. Well, except in one case. He was prepared to fire Ron Rivera after a bad start, but Marty Hurney offered to fall on the sword instead.

We don't really know how David Tepper feels about the idea.

Based on where he came from, you'd expect it to not be an option. Heck, the Steelers hardly ever fire people at any time of the year oh, much less midseason.

But when you get right down to it, we don't really know.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
