Thinking out loud

If things go down the road they look to be going, obviously Cam won't be getting paid anywhere near top dollar either to stay here or anywhere else. Just too big a risk.

I also don't see Cam as a guy that wants to be paid less than top dollar or compete for a starting job somewhere.

Guy has made a lot of money, is an entrepreneur, has a young family and sadly has a body that may not allow him to play the way he wants to play.

I really think he may retire after the season.

I dont see him retiring after this season, but may ride out his contract throught next year and do it.

We heard Lucks emotional presser how just constant rehab took the toll.  Cam Clearly still isnt rigjt and could see him feeling the same.

But I could see him letting Tepper etc know that he plans to retire after next year to get a heada up on finding a replacement.  But try to get 1 last shot

Yeah, there is zero shot IMO of Cam becoming a RGIII or even a Joe Flacco.   I think when his ride is over he walks away.

Cam said in his presser he had a lot of soul searching to do.  Odd way to describe studying film and practicing harder.   But to play devil's advocate to what I am alluding to, Cam in pressers says a lot of phrases that are kinda off.

    • My take on Darnold was always that he was fine with a good offensive line but would wilt under pressure with a poor line (Jets and Panthers). Seattle began the year w/ a pretty bad oline and they improved somewhat but Darnold is showing he is a pretty good qb. Imagine what the Panthers would be today with Darnold and without Bryce Young and all the wasted draft picks to get him.
    • Similar situation but that would be a better version than what we currently have. Sam isn't a franchise QB but he is a good bridge guy. Either Seatle finds a young guy to groom or they have hit their ceiling. They 100% can't put it on Sam's shoulders and expect to win but the team needs to carry less with him at QB to win vs what this team has to do with Bryce.
    • to me the post would suggest Sam Darnold was good last night because Seattle won in a wild game.   Which is what we do with Bryce Young.   Sam Darnold didn't play well last night.  Which is how he trends, goes to a new team.....looks okay and becomes classic Sam Darnold down the stretch.  Last 6 or 7 weeks old bad Sam is coming out a lot (and then a weird Atlanta game mixed in lol).
