Soccer: USA vs. Cuba

Flip on FS1... an absolute trashing... 6-0 at the half... USA.  Could of easily been 15-0.

I know... not Panthers related but US national team is making a history.  Most players are young and play in Europe so the quality of their game is amazing.  I’m pumped for the next World Cup.

This'll probably get moved, but since we're here...

As someone who most likely knows soccer waaaaaay better than I, do you really think we could make a serious push I the next WC?

My son is really into soccer at the moment (he's 7 so who knows where he'll end up) & if we could have a good showing I might spring for a few tickets to Qatar.

US have a very young talented team.  I really think this team can be something special.  Many of the players play for big clubs so I expect big things.  The attack should be a thing of beauty to watch.

US are a borderline World Cup team. That is unacceptable by US standards. They are young and talented. However, they will need to be more consistent to get to the World Cup. Just my honest opinion.

The US is definitely not a borderline World Cup team. That they didn’t make it last time was one of the biggest embarrassments in the history of the team. No, we aren’t actual contenders to win but we are easily a top 3 team in CONCACAF.

I wasn't big on the Berhalter hire, but you can start to see the young players beginning to gel into his system. It will be interesting to see how some of the younger guys like Weah play into things when we get to World Cup Qualifying. I'm hoping Dest decided to commit to the US, but I think he might being leaning towards the Netherlands.

    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
