Newton expected to be ready after the bye

It would be wise to be cautious with bringing him back. I think you have to take his assessments about his health with a grain of salt, at this point. He seems to have a basic inclination to "gut it out" as opposed to get completely healthy.

I would not mind him sitting for 3-4 more weeks and getting back into the groove.

Panthers QB Cam Newton’s foot injury has healed well and he is expected to be ready to practice after the team’s bye this week, per league source. Panthers have said they will make a QB determination when Newton is healthy; that looks to be coming soon.

Just now, hepcat said:

I’m down if Cam Newton can take on a full practice schedule. When was the last time that happened?

Yea, don’t want him back if he’s going to miss a day the week after and then two days after that. Ride out KA until Cam isn’t limited at practice

    • Frank? When he came back his targets were XL, Coker, Moore, Tremble, Mingo and Jatavion Sanders. His major upgrade was Thielen when they played KC in his 4th game back. No knock on any of them. They were all great as role players, with potential for the young guys to be good eventually. But last year they all would have been the 3rd or 4th options on most every other team in the NFL.
    • I do think those that think Renfrow and AT are essentially the same are going to be either really mad or really happy.   Renfrow will not go out there and do what AT did.   I think folks happiness will come down to what Canales ask Renfrow to do in the O.
    • I think it sets up to be sorta similar to last year.   Hard to imagine the O is going to ready to be near whatever ceiling it will eventually have.  Young WRs, chemistry lacking, and all that gotta be worked out.   Canales isn’t really a creative guru so it’s really just going to be on them to get better and up to speed. but the schedule is rather favorable the first quarter or so.   in the end I think they sort of progress similar to last season.  D a constant.  O goes from weak to meh to sorta okay….but  the pass game will be asked to do too much and won the ready for that ask.
