Norman was a flashy player which inflates people's opinion of how good he actually was.

Bradberry is a quiet player which makes people fail to see how good he actually is.

Either way, I'll take a guy who's consistently good for several years over a guy who was really good for one season and then only decent for the rest.

Well we can't make a judgement on Norman's later years because he went to a terrible team but I'm not saying Bradberry isn't great this year.   While Norman was here, Bradberry just hasn't had that good of a season (of course YET is possible).    He'll never have the hands/ballhawk skills that Norman does.

You blame poor performance on the team around him but say that when he was good it was all him?

Plenty of people thought Norman benefitted significantly from the Panthers overall quality of defense.

I'm not saying Norman didn't benefit.    That's the case for most DBs I'd say.    But with Norman I think it was a great system for him but also he had the ability.    Obviously Brady is a HOFer, but I feel it is like if you brought in another QB for Bellichek (Cassel for instance) they'll do good, but Brady was the perfect fit into a great system already.    I feel Norman had that here with the defense.

Would welcome him back with open arms. And yes, with his age I’d definitely prefer a transition to FS. Honestly, with him getting his pay day from Snyder I really don’t vision JNo requiring anything close to what you guys assume he’d ask for contract wise.

Norman was a special DB within the Panthers overall defensive system for a relatively short period of time.

Problem was Norman was all about getting paid like he was a premier all purpose DB.

His weaknesses were exposed for all to see as a Redskin.

Washington overpaid for Norman.

A more reasonable negotiator could have come to a compromise deal with the Panthers.

Norman wasn't reasonable.

Our defense plays to his strengths.. predominantly zone with a great pass rush.   Would take him back in a heartbeat.

I could see that happening this coming off season.

Keep in mind that James Bradberry, Ross Cockrell, Javien Elliott, and Tre Boston will all be free agents.

I agree with a lot of what you said except for the whole youth thing.

Dude wasn't that young when we cut him loose. He was pushing 30. He played 1 and a half seasons of legit great football but people in this fanbase treat him like he was Patrick Peterson or Deion Sanders.

He definitely took a step back in production once he joined the Redskins, but hey, he got paid, and I can't fault anyone for that.

You know, I had forgotten that he had a few more years of age on him. Thanks for catching me up on that. The guy acted a lot of the time like he was the hottest player on the HS varsity squad and I just have an image of him as being younger than he was. Maturity comes slowly for some folks.

I don't think he took a step back so much as he took a step away from a system that was really built to his benefit. Those checks, though, they'll make up for the embarrassment of getting toasted regularly on the field. And as to maturing... well, he was running with the bulls in Pamplona this past off season, so I can't say he has gotten any wiser with the old life decisions.

Gettleman ruined our window by rescinding the tag. Imagine Norman and Bradberry on the 2016 roster and using the Worley, Sanchez draft picks to bolster other positions. We would have made another Super Bowl run.

Good thing Hurney is cleaning up that mess.

His hair looks amazing but he's trash now. Wish he would've been a good player for us sooner, i remember it took a while for his light to turn on. I guess I'm glad he got paid, on a human level. But yeah, he and Xavier Rhodes are both begging to be replaced in the draft this year lololol
