Hate to say it but Lamar Jackson is better than Cam already.

He’s pretty good at not getting hit, something Cam never mastered.....yeah, the OL had a lot to do with it.

Cam was the cause of most of his contact. Holding onto the ball and not sliding or running out of bounds. Lamar doesn't really do either.

Ok lets keep this in perspective.

Lamar is working with Greg Roman

During Cam's prime he won an MVP with.....Mike Shula.

Now some would say systems don't matter or they were similar. Here is the thing...

Comparing Shula's spread system to Roman is like comparing Jim Tressel's spread system to Urban Meyer. Both ran the spread, but one was more creative/instrinsic to Urban. He truly was forward thinking and enhanced the spread. While JT was doing simply becaus he had a mobile QB.

It truly sucks that the Panthers wasted those years with Shula. Yes he won games. Yes he won an MVP

However, he could have been SO much more. No he wouldn't rush for 1000 yards like Lamar.

But he would have had a chance to maintain his status as a great QB with a better play caller.

LJ is a wonderful talent that will help the league.  No denying it.  Hes a boss.

Has nothing to do with Cam other than numb-nutts who started this trash thread.

Yep. Both can be great.

Lamar Jackson is an evolution of the position that we’ve never really seen.

Cam has won MVP and Jackson will now likely do the same.

But comparing the two isn’t necessary. They are both freaks

I Would argue the reverse off what we have never seen. Have we ever seen a 6'5 250 rocket arm agile power thrower who runs over defenders and away from them?? No. No comparison to cam newton. while jackson is rare, you can easily as they have already done compare him to vick and what vick was suppose to be. and even kyler in the same mold. you will see another 2-3 Jacksons before you fine another Newton.

    • I think we pick it up and then someone else ends up emerging as the QB next year and we end up cutting him in year 5 and eating it.  That would be the most on brand thing to happen.
    • Evero has his faults, but even in that loss, the team only gave up 20 points. Your post gets to the heart of the matter. We are not a talented team on defense at this time. Some of our younger guys may develop w/more playing time, but for now we have no impact players at LB or EDGE. We could really use a ball-hawking S on the back end as well. We have exactly two players that have to be accounted for on every play, D. Brown, and J.Horn. Mike Jackson has been solid. The other starters would probably be backups on most the upper echelon NFL teams. We really can't expect this team to a Top 10 defense with such a lack of talent. All things considered I've been somewhat impressed with how much better they have played this year.   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-points-per-game   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-average-team-passer-rating We are in the top 15 in terms of points allowed per game (22.6) and top 12 in defensive passer rating (88.9). And, we are doing this without a formidable PASS RUSH. Even our rushing defense has improved. We are #16 in rushing yards allowed per game (116) compared to 179 per game last season. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-rushing-yards-per-game I wouldn't cry if Evero moved on after the season, but his defense isn't the biggest worry for our team.
