Kyle Allen Only Struggles Because of the OL

His confidence is gone, hopefully he can get it back, but why ruin two QBs when we can continue to develop Grier

How do you think Grier's confidence feels as Allen throws pick after pick while the team piles up loss after loss and the coaches don't even give him a single chance?

People want to know why we don’t start Grier. Allen is a good example of why. He was once looked at as a possible starter, then backup, now even questionable for that. His confidence is gone, hopefully he can get it back, but why ruin two QBs when we can continue to develop Grier

Live reps would be better than mental reps. They really should give the guy a chance.

Allen is losing confidence...and you people want to do the same to Grier lol

2 games vs 12+... very big difference in terms of what that can do to a player, imo.

if grier can't handle 2 bad games, he's never going to survive in the nfl.

His point about simply doing it to appease the fans is valid. That decision should not be made on that basis. However, we all question the soundness of the coaching staff's ability to make roster choices.

At this point, if Allen continues to play badly and Grier continues to sit, how do we just not assume Grier is not capable of playing in the NFL? If he isn't capable of playing as a third round draft pick, why in the world did we take him?

The really sad part is, the fan base has been right more often than the coaches.

I don't think anyone is legitimately making an argument that our OL is good enough. Moreso that Allen is performing worse than average even among bottom five OL play teams.

He just doesn't have it. Which, he was a bust in college and an UDFA. Considering those things, he's probably performing pretty well for that class of player. But, he's also unlikely to be anything but a backup after this season.

You are really showing your intelligence when you call a player a bust or a backup after the situation he was put in. It's like saying Brian Burns is a back up or Donte Jackson is a back up at this point. I mean is Jarrod Goff a backup because he sure as hell has a better offence with a better coach and still throws picks and looks horrible. Likewise do I want Allen to start immediately next year? No because he's taken a beating and we need a new head coach to develop both our young QBs. Hopefully Cam will be 100% and hopefully we fix this horrible offensive line so he can stay 100%. This team has multiple issues that won't be fixed next year but hopefully we can keep our QBs out of IR.

It's been said in here a BUNCH of times. To be sure they don't make life easy on him but his struggles are far from solely the turnstiles in front of him. The Seahawks game is evidence of that. As a QB he received the least pressure of any in Week 15, yet threw 3 INT's.

Honestly, I had maintained that he was a good backup for us but I am starting to rethink that.

I don't see how ANYone, much less a Huddler who has actually watched the games, gonna say with a straight face---or even intimate---that Allen hasn't been the main issue for our losing streak. I didn't say he's the full blame, but the O-line is still middle of the pack, and, admit it or not, have done enough for us to win some games that Allen threw away with horrible and untimely turnovers.

You are really showing your intelligence if you call his college career anything other than a bust.

Why do you think Reid sat Patrick M. Almost an entire season. He was obviously more talented, and they knew he would be the future starting QB but yet they sat him. Grier is a 3rd round pick who we view as a talented backup who could potentially start one day if he develops.  A red shirt year is not going to hurt him, and he can get reps as the main backup next year with a coaching staff who will will actually be here in the future like he will.
