Opinions: we now need a top notch DC

To complete this trifecta, they have to bring in someone who can rebuilt this defense.

Who is the coach that can best utilize the guys we have and reform the D back to what it once was....dominant.

Who u want that will make this coaching staff truly top notch.

All signs are pointing to Phil Snow. I’m still holding out hope that Rhule’s statement of bringing him “in some capacity” means as a position coach.

My top choices are George Edwards or Joe Woods. I guess I can settle for Kris Richards if he learned a thing or two from his first go round.

Yeah in a interview with Matt recently he called Phil Snow his right hand man.

Said he'd never won a game without him as DC.

Said he wouldnt reach out until he figured out who Baylor may be targeting for HC though.

    • Likely irrelevant.  Bryce may be due for a decent game but even if he pulls that off we still have to overcome poor in game adjustments, erratic bench decisions for timeouts/challenges, etc.   My guess would be that we play the Bucs close and feel like we could/should have won but some of the same things that have plagued us all year will keep us from breaking .500.  Then, the Saints will complete their string on mainly only winning games that cause us grief.   Bryce will likely have a decent enough game that we go with him again next year and then have a 2026 repeat of close to .500 record but unable to move forward to playoffs because we shoot ourselves in the foot. If I had to "second guess" it would be that Tampa, like other teams have, will push us all over the field and it will never be close.  That may allow us to take a more careful look at the future but won't help us this year.
    • I agree that the coaching staff is very subpar. Evero has some good elements at times but Dave Canales is a very bottom tier OC and HC.
    • If you include the coaching staff, I think this team is our "dunce" since inception. My opinion would include the times the running game was shut down - not by opponents, but by our staff.  I would add in careless use of timeouts, ridiculous penalties in some of the losses (do we ever practice lining up onsides?), and especially when we showed our defense to the Saints in plenty of time for them to make an adjustment during the Timeout and call a play to defeat the scheme.
