Rapoport's Guess: Panthers will look to trade Cam once healthy

You dont bring in Joe Brady to run an air raid offense that requires quick accurate throws and keep a QB that is known for neither. Cam is a great QB in the right system but we dont run that system anymore. And sadly, he may never be truly healthy again.

That was posted about 2 or 3 hours before Luke officially announced it.  It wasn't posted 2 months ago.

not sure what that has to do with my post. “no one but luke knew” and “it was leaked prior to luke announcing” are incompatible statements. rhule’s buddies knew but the “insiders” here didn’t know poo. all they could offer was “it wouldn’t surprise me” before deleting the thread. and if they DID know something then it raises questions regarding how willing they’ve been to discuss the team moving on from cam while totally sitting on the luke info. but i’m betting they, as is often the case, didn’t know poo. sources dried up when tepper restructured the organization

The pundits sat whatever they want for clicks.

Earlier today I saw a off video about the upcoming draft. They mocked the top LT to the Panthers , and the analyst said he'd be stunned if the Panthers moved on from Cam seeing as they don't have an immediate replacement and that Burrow and Tua would be gone before they pick.

I saw another video, I think it was CBS sports where they speculated that Brady would be a good fit for Newton.

Point is that no one knows what will happen. At this point we can all speculate all we want. Only people that know what will happen will be Tepper, Rhule, Brady. Maybe Jamos14.

I talking about when Luke made the decision to retire.  He told the coach and the coach told his friend who told a friend who posted what he heard.  It wasn't as if anyone had heard Luke discuss it openly around anyone in here to leak it weeks ago.  That's my point.

yeah and that’s my point. there are people with legit inside info. it’s not too tight of an org if rhule blabbed to his college buddies. there are insiders for sure. just not sure it’s the people who have acted as if they are on this forum though.

This needs to be pinned until a decision is made on cam

I've been preparing myself because of what Jeremy and Zack have said here, but it just doesnt sit well with me.  I understanding rebooting, but Cam has never been part of the problem here.  He's a former league MVP, and beat himself to a pulp carrying the team...  if he's truly 100% healthy, then imo, you give him every opportunity to remain a Panther.  We won't even get good value for him at this point bc of the injuries he's had over the last two years...  to me it's just disloyal and bad business.

First mistake you made. Thinking the NFL and it’s teams are “loyal” to players.

Lets just say we trade him to Chicago.  If we received even just 1 of their 2nd rounders that would in theory be enough to move from 7 to 4.  We would have our pick of the second best QB barring someone trading to 2 or 3.

If someone (Miami probably) did trade up fine...keep 7 and make the picks Cam brings.

Quite an effort? We had the worst D in the league weeks 2-17 with Luke and McCoy and Irvin and Bradberry and others who might not be here. Get rid of Cam and you’re pretty much The favorite.

What are you smoking man, the defense didn’t fall apart until the 49ers game, before that they were borderline top 10

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
