Burrow and the Bengals

...might not be as tight as people thought (PFT)

Yesterday, former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer said the Bengals aren’t serious about trying to win Super Bowls.

Today, word arrived that his brother Jordan Palmer would be handling the pre-draft training of presumptive top overall pick Joe Burrow.

Now, Burrow’s using some similar phrasing to the older Palmer brother to describe his goals for the coming months.

“You want to go No. 1,” Burrow said during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show. “But you also want to go to a great organization that is committed to winning. Committed to winning Super Bowls.”

It would be reasonable for Bengals fans — and perhaps the Bengals themselves — to connect those dots and panic.

Of course, it’s possible that those three factors are unrelated, and that Burrow won’t be influenced by people who have beef with the franchise closest to his southern Ohio hometown.

Burrow’s father has already said his son would be fine being drafted by the Bengals, and Burrow himself indicated previously he wasn’t against the idea, saying: “Whoever wants to pay me money to play the game of football, I’ll play for ’em, it doesn’t matter to me.”

If the Bengals wanted to move that pick, they’d have no lack of suitors. The Dolphins are reportedly interested, and there would probably be a line of people curious to move into that slot if the Bengals want to move it.

But I'm sure the brother of the guy who basically demanded to be traded because the Bengals suck wouldn't say anything negative about the team to the kid he's training.

Right?

If we were to go all in on Burrow, we better acquire some draft capital. I read an article mentioning the Colts trading their 1st and next years 3rd for Cam. We would need something like that and then trade those picks plus our first for that top pick. That way we keep our other picks to help fill our many needs. I don’t want to send all of our draft capital for one player...

I wouldn't blame him one bit if he bailed on that team. I like the idea of players and even rookies calling out bad organizations because they are run poorly. Your in the NFL and can't negotiate your contract so why not pick what you can and stay away from teams like this. Even the Phins have no state income tax going for them, Cincinnati has some chili mac you can get a chef to make if you are that hard up for it.

I am not certain the NFL is too sure on Burrow either.  He is really good for certain systems, but does not possess a cannon.  I mentioned a month ago that if Tua passes all med tests, then there will be the discussion about which one goes first.

Smoke, mirrors, its all coming

Doubtful. Tua is a good player, I'm not sure as good as some think, but his concerns about him being injury prone will keep him from being a #1 pick.

Rams and Eagles both made big moves to get their QBs in 2016. One won a Super Bowl and the other went to one

One won the Super Bowl...with their backup QB.  The other lost the Super Bowl because their QB stunk the joint up and put up 3 points.
