Redskins checking out Burrow, Tua

My gut reaction: Somebody's fishing for a trade up offer, but that would mean passing on Chase Young, allowing him to drop to the Lions or, conceivably, the division rival Giants. Does that make sense?

Regarding Dwayne Haskins, Rivera is referring to him as "a good young player" but it's known that Dan Snyder "encouraged" the previous administration to draft him when the coaching staff didn't really want to.

So are they really looking to replace Haskins, is this just due diligence (FYI: Rivera says it isn't) or is it smokescreen / bullsh-t?

Remember, there's no GM up there yet. Rivera has full power.

Drawing up trade interests

Everyone has them linked to Chase Young just because how good Chase Young is.  But really. Edge rusher is no where a Need for them.  While CB, LB, OT, and WR are HUGE needs for them.

They could trade Down, get extra picks,

and STILL get a

Okudah (they say is the best CB to come ot since Jalen Ramsey)

Simmons (freak generational LB type)

Elite OT in Wills

Etc

Wants that extra 1st from MIA. Okudah is a much bigger need anyhow.

Like I said, once Tua was even close to ready, no way he lasts past 3.

This

Their secondary is currently worse than our would be even without Bradberry.

They already have 1 probowl Edge Rusher, and traded into the 1st for Montez Sweat last year (the FREAK who fell because Medical rumors)

If they can get Okudah and extra picks, itd be a Way bigger home run than Young for them

If the Dolphins traded up and gave Washington their #5 to take Tua, the next two teams in line:

3. Detroit Lions
4. New York Giants

Not sure what the Lions have for pass rush but I doubt they'd pass on him. Gettleman sure as hell wouldn't. In this scenario, I'd expect him to try and swap picks with Detroit (no idea if they'd be interested; could depend on the offer).

DET would take him quick. The Giants want to trade down, but need someone to really want Hebert now that Tua is definitely going 2 or 3.

They are doing it right, cause its no guarantee Burrow is the first. I still memeber when Mario went 1st and league wide shocker Bush 2nd. You dont know, still 99.999945874999% burrow is the guy. Plus they have a file on each and know their weakness in case one ends up in the division. Lastly its history in 4 years one/both could be FAs and you got a first impression.

Aaaaaand you compare them to future picks, "This guy is projected 1st overall and hes no better than Tua form 2020" etc etc.

Another swerve could be if Young goes to the Bengals...and they're the team that nabs Jameis Winston lol.

Would mean Skins hold the keys for Burrow...would they pick or trade?  Haskins looked bad his first 2 games but started playing well those last few.

If they don't want Haskins, I'd take him. They gave him no help last year, actually seemed like they tried to lose.

Let’s trade 3 old vets for Haskins. Ron wouldn’t be able to pass that up.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
