Matt Miller: many sources around league believe Panthers will attempt to "tank" for Trevor Lawrence

Why would the Panthers let it be known they're tanking? Why would even be a talked about strategy? If they're tanking it's just going to be acquiring assets. Trying to actively "tank", lose games, isn't something that really happens in the NFL, and when you do you often find yourself playing your way out of the pick as it's always a case of any given Sunday.

I'll believe it when Christian Mccaffrey is traded. Trai Turner being traded straight up for Okung isn't anything other than a smart gamble in my opinion.

Makes zero sense. And yes it happens all the time. JR purposely ranked in 2010 but for business reasons, not to get a player.

The new qb is going to need cmc as well as other pieces. You don’t trade >25 talent when you tank or rebuild, that’s not how it works.

Rhule’s not a tanker, he’s a builder.  He’s going to put a bunch of young players out there and expect them to get better every week.  If they don’t meet his expectations, he’ll find someone who does.  He might have a folksy, mild manner public demeanor , but he’s very demanding on the field.

oh my god..

someone who makes sense on the huddle!!

At first, I was a big Lawrence fan, still am, but honestly, I think I would rather have Fields. Better runner and more elusive even though Lawrence has more rushing yards, but a good chunk of his rushing stats were just one big rushing gain and many yards came against weaker competition. However, I would be happy with either, but I'm currently on the Fields' bandwagon.

I think you will regret making that statement.

Their stats for 2019 are virtually identical and Sam did it with arguably much less talent around him AND in his first year. It’s not a stretch to suggest that he may indeed be better in the long term.

protip: don't believe any "reports" around this time of the year.

its either a smokescreen, baseless speculation, speculation based on extremely shaky grounds, or someone who wants clicks.
