REPORT: Panthers are NOT shopping Curtis Samuel

I think we probably aren’t shopping him too hard but whenever a team is shopping someone they’re going to say they’re not. I’d trade him for a 2nd but doubt a team would bite on that. I wouldn’t give up on his potential for less than that.

I don't understand why we would shop Samuel. His trade value seems marginal at this point, both because he hasn't had the production we anticipated yet and this is a deep wr draft class. He seems to have the most appeal as an elite 3rd wr/gadget player. Now that we have Anderson to slide in as a legit #2, I could see Samuel actually take another step forward. His contract is dirt cheap and we're not gonna replace his production with the late round pick (6th?) that we might get for him. It'd be a high risk, low upside move. The only way you could possibly justify it is if the new leadership sees no immediate future for him in light of all the new wr signings and have no confidence he'll make the 53 so would rather get something than nothing, but that seems moronic. You'd be giving up on a cheap, early 2nd round pick who has shown serious flashes of big play potential so you can give preference to journeyman JAG receivers who are no cheaper or in some cases more expensive. Anyhow I hope the sources are right

There isn't any incentive to trade Samuel! Where's the gain? Let's be serious, he has just as much potential as most of the receivers in this draft, and if JB and MR actually put him into a position to succeed, and with Teddy actually going through his progressions and accurately hitting Samuel in space and hopefully stride, everyone's going to see it.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
