How will Teddy do on Sunday?

Teddy's debut as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback comes against the Raiders and their less than stellar defense. They ranked the bottom 10 in the league against the pass last season.

Will Teddy have enough of a grasp of Joe Brady's offense to score some points? Will DJ and Robby shine? Will we see Curtis Samuel being productive?

What say ye?

Teddy will have a grasp of the offense.  Remember, he worked woth Brady in New Orleans.  And New Orleans actually had Brady personally get Bridgewater up to speed on the Saints offense when they brought him in.

Its all going to be on how the OL holds up.  If he gets pressured and rocked regularly, he probably will have a terrible day.  If he gets some protection, he is going to suprise some people.

OL holds up 300+ and 3 TDs

Bad OL play,  <200 1 TD

If our offense gets in a groove I think they can have a really good day, it's the defense I'm worried about.

I expect a high scoring sloppy game, with the raiders edging it out.

Teddy throws for 200 and no picks, McCaffrey has a monster 100/100 day.

Josh jacobs runs for 150, Raiders win 34-27.

For the most part, feel like he'll be asked to manage the game and maybe connect on one deep shot.  I expect A LOT of CMC Sunday (duh), but really feel like this is going to be a preseason game for us. Going to take a couple of games to get timing and other things down pat, so I'd expect us to keep it pretty simple.

Teddy may know the offense, but none of our other guys have ever ran it in a live game. That's...concerning. As much as we want to see Brady's full offense, we're weeks away from that IMO.

Depends on the Oline, the refs being ready and if the Raider's D is ready. I suspect Teddy is fine in the new system but those other areas could give him great opportunities or get him killed. If he survives and can make progress throughout the game while not getting knocked onto IR I would consider that a huge win for Teddy's first game here.

I see it being one of the extremes.  Teddy does fantastic or poorly.  Neither really being that Teddy centric in the cause.

New offense.  New HC.  New OC.  No real offseason.   Week 1 (defenses usually ahead in normal times).

So I think the stage is set for a very bad week 1 as realistic

BUT there is absolutely no way our opponent can prep for the Panthers offense in reality.   You can study LSU tape.  Saints tape.  Teddy tape.  But no one has seen Teddy with Joe.  No one has seen any of these players together with Joe or Teddy.  A complete wildcard.   Which should be a massive advantage.

So neither would shock me.  I would be most shocked by a well fought close game.

    • I'm probably one of those posters, but I make those posts because there are too many things going on that don't make sense. For instance, how does a RB that does something that hasn't been done in 14 years immediately get reverted back to 2nd string, and it takes a leadership council to make him the starter when he's averaging 3x the YPC? Your average fan shouldn't be screaming that for 2 weeks before the coach sees it. And that's one of many.  What you're seeing is frustration that we could be better, that we should be better, if our owner, FO, and coaches could do things that are so painfully obvious to even the most basic fan
    • Cowboys. Patriots. Couldn't ask for two bigger villains.
    • I think we're all struggling with what things are right now and what they have been. It's like getting ready to have bandages removed after a long period of injury. The healing, the new growth, they aren't going to be pretty, there's going to be some ongoing issues for a while at best and there's every chance that we're going to have to go back into the bandage situation all over again. And that sucks. But it's also a place where maybe, just maybe, the recovery is going to finally start happening. The bad days will be getting behind us.  It's not going to happen this year, but I believe from what I see that this year is showing that improvement. We focus on the QB because that's what all the pundits focus on, because it's the flashiest and most heralded position on the field. No one wants to put out a tweet about how a center is holding down their job and anchoring a line. They rarely celebrate that blocking tight end or special teams gunner. That fourth CB on the depth chart? Not a mention. And yet, those guys are the kind that we've been building here, we're building the lunch pail guys AND finding some future stars.  Is Bryce one of them? Might be a cornerstone of the team in the future as the second QB, might somehow just show out to end the season. Might flame out like many expect. But if that uncertainty is all we concentrate on, we're just going to miserably look at this team and maybe miss out on some solid green shoots that are finally beginning to poke through into the sunlight.
