Not me. That's a Jag. Not bad, not great just another guy. You can't separate bad Jake from good Jake. If he could have then he wouldn't have been a Jag. It was fun at times and we sure could have done worse but he just wasn't more than that.

My point is that all JAGs have bad sides but Jake's upside and clutchness was well beyond that of JAG. Matt Moore is JAG, David Carr was JAG, etc.

I just don't agree his clutchness was enough to overcome the fact he was completely replaceable. Jags are good enough just not good enough to be really good.

Jake vs Fitzpatrick both Jags both are not worthy of the HOF.

His first year was amazing and fun to be apart of. The last couple were amazingly pedestrian and we went to the playoffs for one of those. His clutchness was matched by his inability to produce outside of one category which was wins, which also requires a defense and special teams in football so that is what I would call a group effort. He was a Jag and he was our Jag. It's fun he is getting a respect and love nomination, no way he makes it in.

Jake could throw a deep ball and beyond that, he had a ton of intangibles: excellent leadership, toughness, he never gave up as long as there was time left on the clock, and a deep and abiding belief that the players around him could do incredible things. That's what will take you from being a UPS driver to a Superb Owl QB after a season of heart-stopping come from behind victories.

His stats aren't ever going to get him into the Hall of Fame, and honestly, his play doesn't present that as even a possibility, but when it comes to being the never give up hope guy, you couldn't ask for a better story. Except for maybe his old teammate Kurt Warner.

I really wouldn't call Fitzpatrick JAG - certainly not upper-tier, but there's a reason the dude has been around for 15 years and thrown for 33,000 yards, just 50 behind Steve Young at this point (who was most certainly not JAG). Stats aren't everything of course but I use that mainly to highlight staying power and getting significant time at that; Chase Daniel, Chad Henne, and Matt Moore have also had staying power but sure haven't shown enough for coaches to actually put them on the field for most/nearly all of their respective careers.

It's fair that perhaps our definitions differ. In my mind JAGs are steady and are easily replaceable because they never really do anything remarkable; they are average or worse and unremarkable all of the time. Guys like Jake and Fitzpatrick have their respective flashes that make it worth keeping them around even if they are average most of the time.

Either way though we definitely agree that Jake isn't anywhere near HOF status. Love me some Jake but it's sort of silly that he's even up for consideration.

The number of times he had me jumping up and down yelling "YES YES YES!!!" were almost exactly matched by the number of "DAMMIT JAKE!" Not HOF worthy but a bunch of fun and entertainment.

after a while when he'd throw 2 picks on the first 2 drives i could just shut it off and know it was just one of those days.  didn't he get smith the triple crown and have moose lead the league in yards when smitty was hurt?  not too shabby.
