In which I stay positive and the Panthers haters rage

I feel like getting hit/blind sided in the pocket are where most QB injuries happen. Designed runs let him brace/absorb some of the impact. I could be wrong, but I know the TJ Watt hit that ruined his shoulder was in the pocket...

I would tend to agree with that assessment.

Never having substained success can make you root for a long term goal and not get tunnel vision, Despite what you may think I am have no desire to "tank" I simply have no expectations of this team winning.

I'm sure we will pick up a few meaningless W's.

What is the point of your Carolina Panthers fandom?

In conclusion, these are growing pains we all expected. The good news is the Panthers are not getting blown out. They are scrapping the entire game and making it competitive. Sure, it sucks now. But I still believe, as I have said all along, that the Panthers will start winning games as the season goes on.

Now back to my coffee.

Love you,

JI

Bravo!

It's going to be very interesting to see how this team responds to their marquee player being out. Mike Davis has an opportunity to earn the $3M that resident c(r)apologists bemoan. Players and coaches alike are going to experience growing pains this season, but with all of the needs the team has we'll be able to land an impact player anywhere in the first round.

All 3 QBs gone? Sewell is there to bring in to protect the current QB's blindside, Little kicks inside to LG, Daley moves over to RG, extend Moton, and then go get yourself a center in the 2nd or 3rd rounds (or pick up a vet).

Sewell gone? Hello Micah Parsons, a Penn State LB that would be an immediate and heavy upgrade over Tahir Whitehead that would positively impact all facets of our defense.

Neither of them available? Rousseau will juice the team's (currently) lagging pass rush, or we could go get the #1 WR in the draft to replace Curtis Samuel (and/or Anderson depending on where he signs afterwards).

Busy week ahead, but I'll hopefully get to rewatch the condensed game and all-22 when it's released between work, family, and moving. Very interested to keen in on the trenches to see who is doing their job and who isn't.

We're fortunate that it's only about 8mi away and we have until mid-October to get settled in, but that also means that instead of one brutal weekend it's a slow, torturous drip of 1 - 3 back and forths a day mixed in with cleaning up the house (which was not exactly move in ready to say the least, but everyone was able to make it work) and landscaping... oof

Could be worse tho. I could be a Falcons fan :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

I'm expecting the team to take their lumps this year and next, competing the entire way. For me, it's going to be the 2022 & 2023 squads that let's us know whether we're going to be contending or burning it all down again. That will be year 3 for our rookies that came in under Rhule which is typically the year we get to see the pros they'll consistently be (though it's said that QBs can take up to 5). It'll also be a contract year for the final set of players that were drafted under Rivera.

Starting in 2022, Teddy will only account for $5M in dead cap while clearing up $21M if we find the QB of the future at any point between now and then. Tre Boston will only cost $2.6M to cut and free up ~$5M then as well.

If Shaq consistently doesn't play up to snuff, it'll only cost $3.2M in 2022 & $3.2M in 2023 ($6.4M total) to clear up $12M for 2022. CMC's contract is built similarly: if the worst happens and the injuries pile up it'll cost $4.3M in dead cap for 2023 + 2024 to release him and clear up $12M for 2023.

This means that our current core for the 2022 season will consist of Burns, Brown, Chinn, Little, Daley, McCaffrey, Gross-Matos, and Pride Jr (Moore as well if the team takes his bonus option and maybe Shaq if his performance steps up). Other guys under contract until then are: Charlton, C. Miller, S. Miller, Mack, Bayless, Hartsfield, Franklin, Thomas-Oliver III, Roy, and Grier. Question marks surround whether or not they retain Samuel, but I believe that the team brings back Moton to help provide stability to an OL set to lose Okung, Miller, Schofield, and more than likely Paradis (free up $8.5M in cap ($1.8 2021, $3.6M in 2022 for dead cap hits).

2022 we'll also see contracts expire for Anderson, Weatherly, Jackson, Burris, Thomas, and Short (should he not be cut after this season). There is still a lot of work to be done as this transitions to a Matt Rhule team, so the fact that they're keeping this as competitive as they are in year 1 with all of the offseason limitations is fairly impressive to me. I'd love W's, but I understand that right now this is a team in transition.

I'm still gonna cheer, make overly positive predictions, and object to bad narratives/opinions tho. ᕦ(ò_óˇ)

I admit I'm a pretty bad fan this year but not as bad as our front office is at front officeing. When they start making moves like they know what the f*ck they're doing maybe that will change. I might be past the point of no return though. A decade and a half of Hurney will do that to you.

No judgement this year form me. Plus I already had them at 3-13, BUT....... they are fighting back, thats impressive! I do hate thats what saved Ron Rivera late season a couple times, still this is a Baylor staff with barely any practices/training. They are there on gameday and have decent play calls/system thus far, It does give me hope!
