That's stepping up. Sometimes suggestions and observations like these can only come from players. I can a imagine the coaching staff in this situation being hyper focused on the strictly football side of things and missing over some of the normal things that would happen if there was a regular off season schedule. Seemed to pay off, guys seemed to be more active with each other and flying to the ball.

I don't understand the correlation between wearing masks and feeling distant from one another, but good on him either way.

I do.  I think its important right now we wear masks, but I do think it is harder to get to know people when you can't see half their face, and everyones voice is slightly muffled. I still say masks are critical and that is a small price to play in the long term, but it is a different situation.

Also, these guys have had way less time around each other than they often would have had with preseason etc.

not being able to see people's facial expressions.

This is exactly right.  Teachers are encouraged to wear the clear mask so their students can see their expressions, since relationships and social-emotional development is so important.  The coach/player relationship is the same.

    • I still think a Dalton thumb injury screwed us 2 seasons in a row.  It allowed the Bryce Young comeback after whoever finally gave a greenlight on being done w/ him 2 weeks into the season.  and I think we saw a soft benching this year and they wanted to see Andy run it with this crew.  But Andy hurting his thumb killed us from seeing whatever he has at full go in a game.  Bryce Young was never hurt those 2 games to the degree which called him to miss a game IMO.  You don't see QBs sit for such minor things....unless you just want to use it to explore and see.
    • I was quite critical of Ron Rivera's game day coaching decisions and management over his years here. Especially when he coached super conservative playing not to lose. But at the end of the day he never had to try and win with a Bryce Young. John Fox had to try and win with a Bryce Young and he completely checked out and got himself fired. The only. Only solution right now. Is to remove the anchor around our necks from the equation and move forward however we can and assess all the moving parts with the time we have left so we can move forward accordingly in the offseason. Not doing so is only going to further delay evaluating what we have in this young roster and this staff led by Canales.
    • Sometimes GMs try outsmart everyone by picking a player they think has the physical tools and can be coached up but Legette is an example what happens when that doesn't work out. Teams that are already contenders with a full roster can take those chances. The Eagles, for example, could have rolled the dice on a guy like Legette. But the Panthers needed, and still need, to draft guys who are ready to play now in the first round. Legette wasn't that guy and there were much better options available.
